‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Dylan McDermott Plays the Cool Guy in ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Snap

by Joe Rutland

If an Outsider wanted a picture of cool, then stop and look no further than “Law & Order: Organized Crime” star Dylan McDermott.

McDermott may not consider himself the “King of Cool” in this Instagram photo. But he’s not above staying cool during the long, hot summer months.

Take a look at how McDermott keeps his cool alive in this social media post.

As you can see, the “Law & Order: Organized Crime” star decided to sit near a pool. With two feet in the cool water, it’s one sure-fire way of staying chilled down during the long, hot summer.

McDermott will be back for a second season when “Law & Order: Organized Crime” returns to the NBC lineup. Like last season, the show will have a strong lead-in from “Law & Order: SVU” starring Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T.

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Played Some Mind Games with Elliot Stabler

If you recall, McDermott played mobster Richard Wheatley who starts playing mind games with Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni.

Now Wheatley, during the first season’s finale, decides to do Stabler dirty. As most “Law & Order: Organized Crime” fans know, Meloni originally played Stabler on “Law & Order: SVU.” There’s always been some type of chemistry between Stabler and Hargitay’s Olivia Benson character.

Wheatley, that dastardly fellow, decided to tell his ex-wife Angela that Benson has always been the love of Stabler’s life. During the first season, Angela, played by Tamara Taylor, and Stabler started seeing one another. Now that this was put out in the open, we don’t know what will happen with that relationship.

Of course, lest we forget Stabler and Benson’s history, too. McDermott played Wheatley really well on “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” We left Wheatley being injured and in jail in the season finale. So, where does all this go entering the second season? Stay tuned, Outsiders.

McDermott Is No Stranger To Playing Complicated Characters

Before starting his time on the show, Dylan McDermott played a rather disturbing character on “American Horror Story.”

But any good TV show needs an antagonist against a protagonist.

In an interview with TV Line in April 2021, McDermott explained the show needed an ultimate foe.

“Stabler definitely needs a foe, a formidable foe,” McDermott said. “Otherwise, the show wouldn’t work. Because that kind of conflict, that standoff is so necessary on a show like this.

“So, you have to have somebody who can take him on, and I think that Richard can take on Stabler,” McDermott said. He adds that his character looks forward to the battle with Stabler.

Well, those two are always on a collision course on “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” Don’t expect that to change when the new season begins.
