Following the events of the last episode, many Law & Order: Organized Crime fans think Stabler is “out of control.” Some fans think it’s going way too far while others are enjoying the ride. The newest season finds Stabler, played by actor Chris Meloni, going undercover.

But he’s been anything but ethical since the mission started, and many Law & Order: Organized Crime fans are worried he’s headed down a path that he won’t be able to return from. In a thread titled “Stabler is hilariously out of Control” on Reddit, fans discussed his behavior in the recent episode.

“In one episode he’s drugging a woman, shooting someone, smashing someone’s nose, and sleeping with a bosses wife. I can’t…it’s too much!” the person who started the thread wrote. While some fans are enjoying the spiral, others find it too far-fetched and a bit tough to watch.

Some Fans are Having a Hard Time Taking the Show Seriously

This show has gotten so silly,” one fan said.

“He’s becoming a GTA character,” another person joked.

“It’s funny,” someone wrote. “But I’m also very worried about him.”

Within the show, Benson is also worried about him. She was taken off guard during the last crossover event which ended in Stabler shooting an important suspect. That suspect was then taken into witness protection, enraging members of the SVU. While Benson stood by Stabler, it was clear she’s worried about who he’s becoming.

Rollins alluded to the fact that Stabler is a changed man, and while many Law & Order: SVU fans scoffed at the time, this new episode shows she was potentially on to something.

Other ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Fans are Worried About Stabler

In contrast to the jokes, other fans seem keen on remaining serious about the show.

“He is [losing] himself. And I’m legitimately worried for him since we have 4 more episodes of him being [under cover],” one fan wrote.

“I’m concerned because even though he’s undercover, he’s essentially going against everything he believes is wrong. It’s like a twisted game of opposite day.. Thats got to mess you up inside. In a way he’s escaping from himself but hes also turning into someone else that nobody can recognize,” someone else noted.

What happens next is anyone’s guess, but it’s not looking good for Elliot Stabler right now as he continues the undercover operation. Lots of people hope that Bell will catch on to his instability and pull him from the case and get him some therapy, but that doesn’t look like it’ll happen any time soon.

You can catch the next episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime when it airs on NBC Thursday night at 10/9 Central following a new episode of Law & Order: SVU.
