Many know Christopher Meloni as the star of Law & Order: Organized Crime and former star of Law & Order: SVU. Behind the scenes, Meloni is quite the family man. Meloni has been married for more than 20 years to his wife Sherman Williams Share.

He met Share in 1989, long before Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime were even ideas. He first caught a glimpse of her when she rode her motorcycle onto a set he was working on. Share is a production designer.

At the time Share had cat-eye sunglasses and a short blonde pixie cut, which she still rocks. She seemed totally cool, but unfortunately for Meloni, she had a boyfriend. However, they kept bumping into each other by chance.

The two knew each other for two years before they started dating. Both of them were in and out of relationships and couldn’t see each other.

Their first date involved trips to three very different bars where Meloni fit in everywhere he went. Share loved that quality in him. Four years after they started dating, they had a medieval-themed beach wedding. Right after the wedding, Share had to run and catch a plane. She was working on a set in Miami.

The two wound up moving to New York and have two children together. Sophia Eva Pietra Meloni is twenty, and Dante Amadeo Meloni is seventeen. They have been married for an impressive twenty-five years.

The ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Once Shared Advice for a Successful Marriage

Of coure, in any marriage, chemistry is crucial, but it often takes some communication skills as well. For the Law & Order: Organized Crime star? A successful marriage keeps out any drama.

“Affairs, drama—that’s complicated stuff,” he told Your Tango. “I’m not a fan of complicated. There’s so much energy expended in personal drama, in having a dramatic life. People get addicted to the drama.”

Share, meanwhile, had a more broad answer. She thinks their marriage works because they “just like each other.” She also added that a good marriage should have “space, respect, trust, and freedom.” She also added that the two “laugh a lot.”

“I really appreciate how much he appreciates me,” Share said of Meloni. For them, there isn’t one secret formula for success in marriage. It’s all about loving and appreciating the other person.

For many in show business, marriage can be especially hard to maintain. There are a lot of reasons for that, one of which is long working hours. Meloni had to spend a lot of time on set when working on SVU. It was something that Share knew was hard for him.

Law & Order bleeds it out of you,” he said. “Five days a week, sometimes six, 14 to 15 hours a day—eating lunch standing up, using your time in your trailer to study or make phone calls.”

It’s not something that would be easy on a marriage, but the two survived it together. Hopefully, they’re getting on just fine now that Meloni is back with Law & Order: Organized Crime. It seems like they’re doing just fine. They’re coming up on 26 years of marriage and have two kids they absolutely adore along for the ride.
