‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Chris Meloni Drops ‘National Sons Day’ Selfie with His Son

by John Jamison

Christopher Meloni: Detective Elliot Stabler on “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the internet’s “zaddy,” and, lo and behold, a dedicated father to two children. Today, though, is all about Dante. Meloni took to Instagram to share a selfie of himself and his 17-year-old in honor of National Sons Day.

But before we jump into his actual fatherhood, the “zaddy” title needs a little bit of background. If you haven’t been able to tell by watching him “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” Chris Meloni is in fantastic shape. Not even for a 60-year-old, he’s just plain fit. Long story short, he did a photoshoot in which he wore a neon green tank top and pink pants. The internet went crazy. Fans began referring to him as “zaddy,” and his co-stars even played along.

Now, to the matter at hand. Far from objectification on the internet, Chris Meloni is an invested father to his son Dante. He also has a 20-year-old daughter named Sophia with his wife of 25 years, Sherman Williams.

Meloni shared a picture of him with Dante. You can see a striking resemblance between the two… It must be the hair. No, in all seriousness, the two do have the same eyes.

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Chris Meloni Took an ‘Empowerment’ Approach When Raising His Kids

Christopher Meloni has used his own experience to inform his approach to parenting. He remembers how commanding his dad was and didn’t want to subject his kids to that dynamic.

“What works for me is empowering my kids. I remember not having any power when I was growing up. Power helps kids mature, and it requires critical thinking on their part. They feel engaged in a decision, which makes them feel engaged in the family process,” Meloni told USA Today in 2014.

Elliot Stabler Actor Quit College To Pursue a Hollywood Acting Career

It’s a tale as old as time. Why bother spending the money and time on getting a college education when deep down, all you want to do is become a movie star?

“Law & Order: Organized Crime” star Chris Meloni asked himself that same question when he was a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. So he took off for Hollywood on a motorcycle.

“I remember having to call home to borrow $500. My father made me pay it back to the penny. He told me, ‘This is important.’ What he meant was, ‘You did what you needed to do. It cost a lot in so many ways — emotionally, physically and financially — but you did it,” Meloni continued in the interview.

Meloni went back to school, graduated, and later found success in acting.
