We know Elliot Stabler is going undercover this season on “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” Can the same be said for Dylan McDermott’s Richard Wheatley? The crime boss actor looked to be getting into character in a photo he posted on Twitter. Either that, or he’s got a case of fall fever and can’t wait to start planning his Halloween outfit.
He certainly looks the part of his bad guy character on “Law & Order: Organized Crime” with his masquerade ball get up. Though we will say, if Wheatley is hoping to fly under the radar in this mask, he may have a tough go of it. Dylan McDermott is easily recognizable under the costume.
With Season 2 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” underway, it’s easy for fans to conclude that the costume is connected to McDermott’s character in some way. Unfortunately, the Richard Wheatley actor isn’t giving us anything to go on. He tweeted the picture and the picture alone.
So what are we thinking, Outsiders? Is he dressed up for an actual masquerade ball? The suit he’s sporting could suggest something along those lines. Is he in character? The suit wouldn’t be out of place in a Wheatley scene either. Or, maybe, just maybe, is it possible that Dylan McDermott is secretly chugging pumpkin spice lattes, counting down the days until October 31st?
We’ll take Halloween. Only because there’s a bit of a chill in the air and fall is finally in full swing. But fans had their own ideas about McDermott’s mysterious selfie.
“Hmmmmmm is The Masked Singer next on the agenda? I could just see you as smoothie singing the blues!” one Twitter user asked.
Others couldn’t help but wonder if the mysterious look means a Halloween-themed costume party on “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Look, no one’s calling Dylan McDermott a bad guy in real life. But growing up the way he did in New York City, the “Law & Order: Organized Crime” star crossed paths with his fair share of them.
It may surprise fans to learn that the Richard Wheatley actor mixed it up with plenty of figures who resemble his character on the show.
“I had grown up with these unsavory gangsters as a kid. My mother’s boyfriend was a bank robber, my uncles had dabbled in this and that. I had grown up with my dad in the Village, Little Italy. And had been around when Joey Gallo got killed, and Paul Castellano [was shot dead] at Sparks Steak House. I had waited on these guys as a bartender, as a waiter and as a busboy, so I knew the lay of the land,” McDermott told Parade recently.
