For dedicated “Law and Order” fans, the partnership between Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) has always been a favorite. Before Meloni left “Law snd Order: Special Victims Unit” at the end of season 12, the duo had established a very strong bond. A bond that seemed to almost supersede the classic “will they or won’t they” storyline found on many television shows.

However, since Elliot Stabler’s return to the popular “Law and Order” franchise, the relationship between Stabler and Benson has seemingly grown beyond the partnership.

During a scene in the new “Law and Order” show “Law and Order: Organized Crime,” mob boss, and Elliot Stabler’s most recent nemesis, Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) can even see the love between the two former partners.

The “Law and Order” Twitter page tweeted a recent clip of the show where Wheatley reveals that Benson is, in fact, the REAL love of Elliot Stabler’s life.

This revelation comes as Wheatly is talking to his ex-wife, Angela, who is also currently Stabler’s love interest on the new law enforcement drama.

“You know you’re not the love of his life,” Richard Wheatley says to Angela in the scene shared to the @lawandordertv Twitter page Wednesday morning.

“There’s someone else,” the mobster continues in the clip. “Another woman who’s the one true love of his life.”

Fans of the show knew immediately who Wheatley was talking about.

Is It Obvious to Everyone That the ‘Law and Order’ Partners Are In Love?

“Our faces when Wheatley said THAT” the “Law and Order” Twitter account commented with the post.

Earlier this year, Chris Meloni made his return to the hit show. His return occurred during a cross-over event between “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” and the franchise’s newest installment, “Law and Order: Organized Crime.”

“It’s not like it was a secret,” one fan said in response. “But what are Wheatley’s sources? Like, how did HE find out?”

So, now this is something that needs to be addressed. While there’s a chance Wheatley was saying this just to get to his ex-wife, there has been some truth to the statement for many years. Romantic or not, the relationship between Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson is an intense one. Now, even Richard Wheatley is sensing there is more to the connection between the two former partners; and it’s probably time for the duo to face their feelings.
