‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ Star Mariska Hargitay Celebrates Husband on Father’s Day: PHOTO

Mariska Hargitay, the long-time star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, wished her beloved husband a Happy Father’s Day.

Peter Hermann and Hargitay have been together for almost two decades. She posted a closeup photo of Hermann on Instagram, captioning it:

“Happy Father’s Day to our North Star and to my everything. I love doing this with you.”

The two are a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit love story. The 53-year-old Hermann also is an actor. He notched a recurring role on the show in 2002 to play defense attorney Trevor Langan. Hermann asked her to go to church with him. And Hargitay, in the middle of the service, started crying.

“As a little girl you’re told, ‘Oh, when it’s the right person, you’ll know. You’ll know,’” the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star told People in 2019. “But listen, I had been engaged previously, and I never knew.”

She said: “I just started sobbing. Peter thought I was crying because I was so moved by the service. No, it was because I was just overwhelmed, realizing he was the one.”

The couple now have three children — August, Amaya and Andrew. Hargitay was 42 when she had August in 2006. She developed gestational diabetes in her third trimester. The couple chose to adopt their second child, Amaya, from Africa in 2011. Months later, they then adopted Andrew, who Hargitay described as “this angel that fell out of the sky, because he was a little unexpected.”

The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star loves to post photos of her family of five.

Hermann was born in New York. But his parents returned to Germany when he was a baby. They moved back when he was 10. Hermann graduated from Yale and started out as a high school English teacher.

He also emerged as more than just Hargitay’s husband. He starred as Charles Brooks on Younger, which ran on TVLand, then Paramount +. The series ended this month, with Charles and Liza breaking up and Charles heading to writers camp. Hermann, in real life, also is a writer. In 2018, he wrote the children’s book If the S in Moose Comes Loose.

Meanwhile, Hargitay is about to start her 23rd season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Two days ago she posted on Instagram that she was “Maskless and braceless! Feeling #PrettyInPink #HealedAndInHeels #LadiesNight with this one (Ali Wentworth).” She’d recovered nicely from a serious leg injury.

The accident wasn’t related to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but she revealed she broke her right knee cap, while tearing a ligament and suffering a hairline fracture of her left ankle. She posted last month “It’s always a good idea to go to the doctor. Immediately. Great news is I don’t need surgery.”
