Circle your calendars, Law & Order: SVU is about to roll out its 500th episode. Filming of it started late last month.
And we know one former character is coming back. It’s Nick Amaro, portrayed by Danny Pino. The official social media account of Law & Order: SVU recently announced the news.
“500 episodes of #SVU calls for a big celebration.” And we agree. Wolf Entertainment also confirmed the news, posting: “Nick Amaro is returning to the squad room for the 500th episode of #SVU.”
Mark Your Calendars: 500th Episode of Law & Order: SVU Runs Oct. 21
The Law & Order: SVU episode will run Oct. 21. And it has a simple name: The Five Hundredth Episode. The show is dropping some clues, mainly with special cast announcements.
Amaro became a character in season 13. Law & Order: SVU needed another strong male. Elliot Stabler left when Christopher Meloni, the guy who played him, left the show after a contract dispute with NBC.
So Amaro worked with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). His previous run on Law & Order: SVU lasted 94 episodes. So No. 500 for the series will be his 95th. Amaro’s last time as a full-time cast member was Surrendering Noah in May 2015. On the show, Amaro left when he decided to move to California to be close to his kids.
Aidan Quinn and Hargitay’s Husband Expected for No. 500
Law & Order: SVU also announced that Aidan Quinn will play Burton Lowe. Lowe, the show said, is involved in one of the cases Benson is working. But we also know he’s a man from her past. Given what’s going on between Benson and Stabler, maybe this can be a potential love triangle?
Quinn already has an SVU episode on his resume, although he guest-starred as a different character. This was way in season nine. Quinn played Ben Nicholson in an episode called Savant. The episode ran on Oct. 16, 2007. Nicholson was the father of Katie, who was mentally disabled. Katie was the only witness to whoever beat her mother. That was Ben’s wife and he was the first suspect.
Quinn also will be in a movie called Blacklight, which stars Liam Neeson. The movie is set for release in early 2022.
According to IMDB, the 500th episode of Law & Order: SVU also will also feature another important character in Benson’s life. Check that, Hargitay’s life. Peter Hermann, who played recurring character Trevor Langan, a defense attorney, is listed with an appearance. Herman and Hargitay married in 2004 after meeting on set. They now have three children. Herman’s most recent show was Younger.
This week’s episode is called Fast Times @theWheelhouse. It’s a case about two social media influencers.
