Most shows are lucky if they get to 100 episodes, but Law & Order: SVU is about to celebrate its 500th. The drama, which has been on air since 1999, will bring back some familiar characters. In a new trailer for the milestone episode, there’s a very familiar face.
The new preview for the 500th episode of Law & Order: SVU has fans losing their minds. The show is bringing back characters like Cragan, Amaro, and Warner. These are beloved characters that helped define the course of the show.
In the replies, fans gushed about the upcoming episode.
“I hope Amaro and Elliot meet during this episode,” one fan said.
Another fan posted an excited reaction image, saying “This is my reaction when I see that Cragan, Amaro, and Warner make an appearance in this week episode and oh boy I can’t wait to watch this episode on Thursday.”
“I’m so emotional!!” another fan wrote. Lots of fans are particularly excited to see Cragan, who was a massive part of the show in its early years.
There’s been plenty of people to leave the show during its run. Most notably, Elliot Stabler actor Chris Meloni left over a decade ago after a contract dispute. Now, he’s back with his own show and will hopefully make an appearance on episode 500. He’s pretty busy in an undercover operation on Law & Order: Organized Crime, however, and some fans are worried he won’t make an appearance except in flashbacks.
Mariska Hargitay, however, has been at the helm of the show since its beginning with Ice T not too far behind. The episode will likely have far more than just familiar faces. It’s sure to pack a punch in traditional Law & Order: SVU fashion as we learn more about Benson.
The show has been important to countless people since its conception. Now that it’s been on for so long, it’s incredibly familiar. The episode is definitely going to be a tear-jerker for die-hard fans.
The ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Cast Celebrated the Occasion With Cake
The show recently tweeted pictures from a 500th episode celebration party with Mariska Hargitay and Executive producer Dick Wolf. Wolf has produced what seems like countless dramas at this point, but none have lasted longer than SVU.
The photos show off a giant NYC-themed cake alongside a bunch of little cupcakes.
According to Cinemablend, the episode will also teach fans more about Olivia Benson’s past through flashbacks. She’s been the driving force behind the show for decades, and many are excited to get a closer look at what made her who she is.
If you want to catch the special 500th episode, it airs on Thursday, October 21st at 9/8 Central.
