‘Law & Order: SVU’ Fans Begging for Beloved Series Alum to Get Their Own Spinoff Show

by Kati Michelle

“Law & Order: SVU” fans are undeniably some of the most dedicated fans out there. Many of them have been hooked since the show’s birth back in 1999 and have grown right alongside the show’s characters. It’s not surprising, then, that fans are taking to the internet begging for more content. Specifically, fans are urging execs to consider a spinoff show focusing on Tamara Tunie’s character, Dr. Melinda Warner.

Now, “Law & Order” spinoffs aren’t a new concept. The latest spinoff actually follows Christopher Meloni’s character, Stabler, and has been quite a success. In fact, its initial release brought in enough viewership to greenlight a second season. On the flip side, other pitched spinoffs haven’t been as lucky. For example, earlier this summer there were murmurs of a spinoff focusing on defense attorneys. A TV slot was picked and a rough timeline for filming was also made public. Unfortunately for fans, “Law & Order: For the Defense” got the kibosh from NBC before fans were treated to a single episode.

Ultimately, it boils down to a ratings war between the usual giants: ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC. Fans can rave all they want about a series, but at the end of the day, the numbers have to be there for execs to not only get on board but stay on board as well. Fans are keeping “Law & Order: Organized Crime” afloat, so perhaps a Warner spinoff is still possible

A Quick Refresh On ‘Law & Order: SVU’s’ Melinda Warner

For those that don’t remember, Tamara Tunie’s character, Dr. Melinda Warner, was the resident medical examiner throughout the entirety of the show’s initial stages. Over the years, her presence has declined significantly from being a main character to one who makes the occasional guest appearance. However, fans are always delighted to see the familiar face. An archived Reddit thread is among hundreds of other social media posts rooting for the revival of Dr. Melinda Warner.

Even if fans can’t convince creator Dick Wolf to hop on board with the spinoff, it’s not entirely unlikely for either the original “Law & Order: SVU” or the adored “Law & Order: Organized Crime” to house a Warner appearance. In the meantime, a lot of exciting projects are brewing for Tamara Tunie.

With a release date set for mid-November, Tamara Tunie joins a killer cast for Cowboy Bebop. This live-action series shares a name with the anime it’s based on. It follows a group of bounty hunters and their escapades through space to capture the galaxy’s worst offenders. Tunie plays the brilliant and intuitive owner of an intergalactic convenience store. She also provides other characters with special intel from time to time.

For now, here’s what Netflix says you need to know about the series:
