‘Law & Order: SVU’ Fans Share Their Spookiest Episodes Ever

by Lauren Boisvert

It’s Halloween day, and “Law & Order: SVU” fans are celebrating by sharing their favorite spooky episodes from the series. Fans took to Twitter where the official “Law & Order” account asked what everyone’s favorite scary episode is.

One fan mentioned the episode “Pure” from season 6. In the episode, Martin Short plays Sebastian Ballentine, a self-proclaimed psychic who claims he has information about a rape and kidnapping. Benson and Stabler suspect him of being the kidnapper, of course, you know how these things go: he has personal, firsthand knowledge of the case, even though he was with the police when the girl was kidnapped. Well, turns out Ballentine is a serial virgin rapist, and has kidnapped and assaulted Canadian hikers with his wife. That’s a story that’ll get anyone shaking in their boots.

Another fan commented a few different episodes; one was the season 6 episode “Conscience.” A 13-year-old kills a 5-year-old in what he says is a panic. It is later revealed that he is a sociopath who would self-harm and threaten other kids at delinquent camp. His father, a doctor played by Kyle McLachlan, is furious when he finds out. At the end of the episode, he steals an officer’s gun at the courthouse and shoots his son. He is charged with murder; the detectives wonder if he was really a distraught parent, or if he shot his son because he believed sociopathic children had no hope of a normal life. Put the kids to bed before you watch this one.

“Delinquent” was also mentioned; this season 12 episode centers around a 15-year-old boy named Hunter, who was found asleep naked in a woman’s bed. He apparently had plans to rape her, but his mother was quick to defend him from the police. Hunter is crafty and sneaky, and falsely accuses Stabler of touching him inappropriately. This leads to a restraining order against Stabler. As it turns out, Hunter’s babysitter sexually abused him when he was 7 and his mother never got him counseling for it. He confronts and kills his former babysitter, so she can never inflict that sort of pain on anyone else again.

For Halloween vibes, one fan suggested “Glasgowman’s Wrath.” The season 16 episode follows three young girls as they sneak off into the woods in search of the mythical Glasgowman. Two of the girls go missing, with the younger sister found with head trauma and stab wounds. According to a hiker, there was a man standing over her before he ran into the woods. It turns out, the two older girls planned the whole thing, and stabbed each other and the sister. They claim the Glasgowman gave them orders to do it. If you watch any “SVU” episode tonight for Halloween, please make sure it’s this one.
