“Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay understands parenthood is tough at times. That’s why she is glad to have some friends around.

Well, these friends also have experience as actresses, too. Debra Messing, Maria Bello, and Ali Wentworth are among those who share parenting and show business backgrounds. Hargitay, who plays Sergeant Olivia Benson on the long-running NBC police drama, talked about having those types of friends in her life during a 2012 interview with “Good Housekeeping” magazine.

“No matter where you find yourself in life, there’s always a friend who has gone through pretty much the same thing,” Hargitay said.

“After we adopted, it was remarkable how many people had great thoughts and tips for us. And my friends are all so incredibly loving and hilarious; I inevitably end up laughing when I talk to them. I would say in that department, I am a very lucky girl.”

That year saw Hargitay celebrate her 48th birthday. The “Law & Order: SVU” star and her husband, actor Peter Herrmann, adopted not one but two babies. They are the parents of daughter Amaya and son Andrew. Also, they have another son, August, in their lives, too.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Has Been On Show Since First Season

Hargitay and co-star Ice-T, who plays Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, have been there as cast members since the show’s first and second season, respectively. “Law & Order: SVU” is going to have a couple of episodes, at least, where Benson and Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) will cross paths. Meloni will enter his second season, bringing Stabler back to life on “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Obviously, longtime “Law & Order: SVU” fans know Hargitay and Meloni were together on that show for 12 seasons.

Meloni left the franchise but returned last season in a spin-off. Both shows will air on Thursday nights, again, this season. Catch “SVU” in its usual timeslot of 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central. “Organized Crime” follows at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central.

Franchise creator Dick Wolf continues to watch over these shows.

Show Fans Calling For Spin-off With Dr. Melinda Warner Actress

There’s no doubt that “Law & Order: SVU” fans do love their show. Yet they would not mind if another spin-off popped up, one for actress Tamara Tunie.

She played Dr. Melinda Warner on “SVU” and the show’s fans would like that spin-off now, please. Seriously, Tunie is one busy actress with a lot of projects going down.

Still, there have been numerous online fan threads asking about the whereabouts of Tunie and her popular character. An archived Reddit thread is solely focused on this matter.

Fans will have to take a wait-and-see attitude about it. So will Tunie, but she’s going to stay busy.
