‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Mariska Hargitay & Peter Hermann Reveals the Ultimate Key to Their Marriage
In 2019, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, along with her husband Peter Hermann, spoke to People about what is actually the “ultimate key” to their marriage. Which is laughter. “I never thought I would have this much laughter in my life,” Hermann declared. “Not just actual laughter. But also the way that Mariska is just the embodiment of laughter. Of joy.”
The Law & Order: SVU star also admitted that it’s not that she and Hermann don’t fight. She did say that seeing the “absurdity” in certain arguments has proven to be crucial. They are also considered life’s “silver linings.”
Hermann does note that laughter has and always unites him and the Law & Order: SVU cast member.
“It’s the way we find our way back to each other. It’s this fantastically, wonderfully ridiculous way that we can swing back and forth any number of times in a given day.”
Hermann goes on to add that fundamentally, he and Hargitay know they have the same destination. “We know where we’re headed dead it’s all good. And we know we’ll get there together.”
Hargitay previously spoke to People about how she knew Hermann was “the one” for her.
“As a little girl, you’re told, ‘Oh, when it’s the right person, you’ll know. But listen, I had been engaged previously. And I never knew.”
The actress then noted she and Hermann went to church together and it was like “getting hit by a lightning bolt.”
