‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Mariska Hargitay Drops Stunning Sunset Pic That Will Have You Ready for a Vacation

Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay just dropped a stunning sunset picture that’ll make you want to head to the beach. The star dropped the photo on her Instagram account last night (6/21). Hargitay didn’t even have to travel far to get pictures of that beautiful sunset. The photos were taken in New York state.

Hargitay has starred as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU for over two decades. She’s broken the record for the longest consecutive amount of time an actor has played a character. The record previously belonged to Gunsmoke stars.

The beautiful picture of that fiery sunset was taken while Hargitay is on a break. Law & Order: SVU is on hiatus right now. Its 22nd season is officially over, and many of the actors have gotten a bit of downtime before they go back to the workplace.

Unfortunately for Hargitay, this break has been no vacation.

The ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Recently Suffered Major Leg Injury

Last month, Hargitay took to Instagram with some tough news. In a photo post, Hargitay showed off her brand new leg brace.

“#ThatFeelingWhen, you go to the doctor, get an MRI and find out that you have a broken knee, a hairline fracture in your ankle, and a torn ligament. It’s always a good idea to go to the doctor. Immediately,” she wrote. Hargitay also didn’t explain how the injury happened but insisted that it did not happen at work.

It looks like she’s made a very speedy recovery, however. The actress recently posted a photo of herself and a friend. In the post, she showed off the fact that she wasn’t wearing a brace. Hopefully, she’ll be able to film Law & Order: SVU comfortably once the series starts shooting again.

Besides, Law & Order: SVU isn’t the only series Hargitay will be on. Law & Order found great success wth crossover events with Law & Order: SVU and Chris Meloni lead Law & Order: Organized Crime. Chris Meloni starred on SVU as Elliot Stabler before leaving the show after season 12.

Hargitay Recently Described the Pain of Watching Co-Star Leave

Seeing a co-star leave is always hard, but Hargitay and Meloni were friends. Hargitay explained their bond in an interview with Variety.

“We connected on so many different levels, which is really a gift with any human being. But we went through so much in the first 12 years and dug so deep and had a very full relationship and a very honest one and brave one,” she said.

So after working together for over a decade, Chris Meloni’s departure from the show truly cut deep. She said that Meloni’s exit was “so painful for me and so hard because the way he left, there was no closure. There was just a big hole.”

Thankfully, he’s back now, making an appearance on SVU, and definitely set to make more next season. His new show Law & Order: Organized Crime follows Elliot Stabler’s return to the force after his wife is killed in a car bomb meant for him. Both shows will return this fall on CBS.
