Mariska Hargitay treated fans to a throwback photo of Law & Order: SVU character “baby Benson.”

On Thursday, August 5, Hargitay shared a snapshot of her as a young child to her Instagram followers. She wrote, “TBT Baby Benson,” alongside the image.

Hargitay grew up amongst two iconic parents. Her mother was actress Jayne Mansfield, who you may know as Marilyn Monroe’s rival. In 1967, Mariska and her mother were in a catastrophic car accident with a semi-trailer truck. Jayne passed away at just 34 and Mariska was just 3 at the time.

This left her father Mickey Hargitay to care for her and her siblings. He found love with his next wife Ellen Siano. She almost had a near-death scare as well. Back in 2008, she was working as a flight attendant on a plane when turbulence hit. She was thrown to the ceiling fifty-six times. One fatality and four people seriously injured came from the scary incident. Mickey passed away in 2006 after a six-year battle with cancer.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 23 Details

Firstly, Law & Order: SVU and Organized Crime creators teased more crossover episodes. As both of the spinoffs are filming and airing at the same time.

In addition to teasers, writer Julie Martin recently teased a connection to the shows and characters via Twitter.

“Don’t twitch, attention will be paid to Benson and Stabler,” she revealed. “They have a lot to talk about in Season 23.

Secondly, while the show began filming in July, Hargitay suffered from a serious injury. This did NOT take place while on set.

“#ThatFeelingWhen, you go to the doctor, get an MRI and find out that you have a broken knee, a hairline fracture in your ankle, and a torn ligament. It’s always a good idea to go to the doctor,” Mariska wrote on Instagram after her injury. She thanked her fans for their support and revealed that she would not need surgery.

Thirdly, an NBC representative told TV Line that Benson’s injury will be addressed during the season premiere episode.

Finally, in 2020, the show was picked up for three seasons. So fans can expect at least one more season after the 2021 fall season. All of the main series regulars are set to return. Meanwhile, Christopher Meloni is rumored to resume his guest role as Eliot Stabler.

Law & Order: SVU Season 23 will premiere on Thursday, September 23 at 8 PM ET. This will be a special two-hour episode followed by the Season 2 premiere of Organized Crime at 10 PM ET. The following week, SVU will air at the same time followed by a 2-hour episode of Organized Crime. Furthermore, from there on out, they will air at 9 PM and 10 PM respectively.
