When it comes to advocating for self-love and self-improvement, “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay’s got you covered.

Following her on Instagram is a good way to receive positive, uplifting messages about being kinder, communicating clearly, and working on yourself. After playing a detective in the SVU unit for 20 years, Hargitay’s learned a valuable lesson about how compassion can be just as strong a weapon as hate.

But yesterday’s Instagram post focused on self-improvement more than anything else. The “Law & Order” star didn’t even include a caption, because her post spoke for itself.

“The self-work that you do in silence will echo throughout every part of your life,” the post reads.

It’s a wise message. Too often, people who “work on themselves” like to tell everyone exactly what they’ve been doing and how transformative it’s been for their lives. But if you have to announce it to everyone and seek their approval or praise, then you’re not really focusing on making yourself better.

Instead, we should follow Hargitay’s example and do what we need to for ourselves without seeking praise. Then, when the results come through, people will still notice and commend you on the change without you having to ask for it.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Enters Long Hiatus: When Will It Return?

Bad news for “Law & Order: SVU” fans. The show’s already edging toward their midseason break, and it’s barely halfway through November. Last night, Nov. 18, no new episode aired on the NBC procedural. And none will air next week either, unfortunately.

In fact, fans will have to wait until Thursday, Dec. 9 for a new “Law & Order: SVU” episode. Why the long wait?

Next week is Thanksgiving, so most people will be spending time with their families rather than sitting down for a crime procedural. The week after that, Dec. 2, NBC is airing the “Annie Live!” musical special because of the holiday season. So we’ve got another three weeks before Hargitay is back on our screens as Detective Olivia Benson.

Only she won’t be alone. The wait will be worth it because we’ll also be seeing Christopher Meloni reprise his role as Elliott Stabler on “Law & Order: SVU.” Meloni spent twelve years on “SVU” before taking a 10-year hiatus. Now, he’s back with his own spin-off show, “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” And Dec. 9 represents a crossover event between the two shows.

Many fans wonder if the crossover event will finally bring Benson and Stabler closer together, close enough to become a real couple. They’ve been dancing around their potential romance for years, but could this finally be the right time for both of them?
