Liam Neeson may be turning in his very particular set of skills acquired over his long career as a film star.

Neeson admits he’ll be hanging up his coat as an action star soon.

The End of an Action Era

The talented A-list actor is most recently known for starring in action films. In the 2008 movie Taken, he rescues his daughter after she is abducted while in Paris. The hit resulted in two more movies becoming part of the franchise.

“I’m 68 and a half — 69 this year,” he told ET. “There’s a couple more I’m going to do this year — hopefully, COVID allowing us — there’s a couple in the pipeline and, then I think that will probably be it. Well, unless I’m on a Zimmer frame or something.”

The Marksman is his newest film falling under the action genre. In the recently released movie, he protects an undocumented Mexican boy from drug cartel members.

“I love doing ’em. I love beating up guys half my age,” said Neeson.

However, while performing in his newest role, the Blacklight actor was made painfully aware of “fighting” against and starring alongside the younger actors in show business. Since the actor performs his own stunts, he came to the realization he might want to focus on other films after a recent fight scene.

“I’ve just finished one in Australia and I had a fight scene with a kid — lovely, sweet actor called Taylor — and halfway through the fight I looked up, I was breathless and it didn’t cost him a cent, and I said, ‘Taylor, what age are you?’ He said, ’25.'”

“I said, ‘That’s the age of my eldest son!'” he admits.

The Talented Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson has been acting since the ’70s with a successful career and several awards under his belt.

His current Netflix film Unknown is now the most-viewed film on the streaming site.

“I’m glad because I thought it was a pretty cool film,” he says. “In fact, we’re trying to get a TV series based on the premise of the story of Unknown,” he says. “so, it’s very flattering and it was lovely to hear that people have discovered this film after 10 years.”

What’s Next for the Actor?

Neeson would take on the role as executive producer instead of action star.

He also released information about potentially trying his hand at comedy.

“I’ve been approached by Seth McFarlane and Paramount Studios to maybe resurrect the Naked Gun films,” he told People (the TV Show!).

“It’ll either finish my career or bring it in another direction,” Neeson jokes. “I honestly don’t know.”

Whatever roles are in his future, Neeson is ending his career as an action star with a bang.
