The only child of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley is reportedly living with her former spouse, Danny Keough. In the wake of their son Benjamin’s tragic suicide, Keough has moved into Presley’s home, where she resides with her twin girls, Finley and Harper.
The couple met in 1985 at the Church of Scientology’s Celebrity Center, where Lisa Marie Presley lived. Keough was working as a house musician at Mad Hatter Studios, according to PopCulture. After Presley realized he had a knack for music, she invited him to play bass in her band. In October of 1988, they went public with the relationship when they announced their marriage.
On Oct. 3, 1988, they got married at the Celebrity Center International of the Church of Scientology in West Hollywood. The couple had an intimate ceremony with only nine attendees that included Presley’s mother, Priscilla Presley.
Less than a week after the wedding, Priscilla Presley released a statement that the couple was expecting their first child. They welcomed their daughter Danielle (who goes by Riley Keough) in May of 1989, followed by Benjamin in 1993.
Even though Riley admits that her father “didn’t have that much money,” she says that her memories of growing up with him were “so colorful and eccentric and fun.”
Riley said: “It was a good vibe, you know? When I was like eight I told him, ‘I want to grow up and be poor like you!’ He was eating a bowl of cereal. I didn’t realize how wildly offensive that was!”
Loss of Son Brings Lisa Marie Presley & Danny Keough Back Together
Sadly, Presley and Keough were married for less than six years. In May of 1994, Presley filed for divorce, and less than a month later, she married pop superstar Michael Jackson. After two years of marriage, she divorced Jackson and later married actor Nicholas Cage in 2002. Presley filed for divorce again after being married to Cage for 107 days. In 2006, Presley married Michael Lockwood and the two welcomed twins Harper and Finley in 2008. Presley filed for divorce from Lockwood in June 2016 due to irreconcilable differences.
Even though Presley was married multiple times after Keough, it seems like the tragedy of losing their son has brought them together again. “They are now living with family at a new house in Calabasas and have been grieving together,” a source close to the family said. “It’s been an extraordinarily difficult time and he’s been a rock for Lisa.”
In 2003, Presley spoke highly of her ex during an interview with Rolling Stone. “He’s my absolute best friend in the world. The smartest thing I’ve ever done is have children with this man because I knew this is the one man I could be connected to for the rest of my life.”
