After a heartbreaking tragedy, Lisa Marie Presley has quietly sold her $2 million home in Calabasas, California.
The daughter of the King is no stranger to tragedy, including that of her father’s untimely death. However, nothing hit her as hard as the suicide of her son, Benjamin Keough, who took his own life on the property eight months ago.
Following his death, Presley admitted that she couldn’t be in the Calabasas’ home anymore. The pain of the mother’s grief resulted in putting it up for sale.
An insider told The New York Post that Presley “could not step foot inside the home” since her son’s tragic death.
The sale quietly took place in December of 2020.
Lisa Marie Presley Sales Home After Son’s Death
The 52-year-old singer and songwriter first bought the home in March of that same year for $1.8 million.
Only four months after purchasing the house, Benjamin died on the property from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Presley’s son died on July 12, 2020 at the young age of 27.
The property spans 3,582 square feet and sits on 8,838 square feet of land. It includes five bedrooms and three bathrooms. The house was first built in 1989, and includes a pool, hot tub, patio area, and hillside views. The Calabasas area is known for its expensive, luxurious homes and neighbors.
It was sold for $2 million in a private, off-market deal in December.
Presley Is Heartbroken After Benjamin’s Suicide
Following the death of her son, Lisa Marie was left “entirely heartbroken, inconsolable, and beyond devastated,” says her manager, Roger Widynowski.
“She adored that boy,” Widynowski adds. “He was the love of her life.”
Three months after Benjamin’s death, Lisa Marie Presley posted on Instagram, sharing a photo of him celebrating his birthday.
“The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day,” she wrote. “I will never be the same. Please wait for me my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and to be here for Riley. I know you would want that.”
About The Son of The King’s Daughter
Benjamin was Presley’s youngest child with her first husband, musician Danny Keough. 31-year-old actress Riley Keough is also the daughter of Lisa Marie and Danny.
Presley also has 12-year-old twin daughters with ex-husband Michael Lockwood.
Benjamin has a previous record of depression. He had also attempted suicide around five to six months prior to his death, according to the autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The official report shows that Benjamin died with cocaine and alcohol in his system.
The 27-year-old had been to rehab three times, but only completed one stay.
