Remember watching “Little House on the Prairie,” a family-friendly TV series starring Michael Landon? Well, it’s coming back.

What’s even better is that one of the original series’ stars already says she is ready to join the new show’s cast.

“I’m just the right age to play Mrs. Oleson,” actress Alison Arngrim, who starred as the snobby, sausage-curl-sporting menace Nellie Oleson for seven glorious seasons, said. “I’m totally there. I have no shame.”

The original series was based on a series of books from author Laura Ingalls Wilder. Besides Landon, the cast included Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, Melissa Sue Anderson, Victor French, and Merlin Olsen. It ran on NBC from 1974 through 1983.

Now, Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content are teaming up to put together a one-hour drama.

Peacock started showing reruns of the original “Little House on the Prairie” series in December. The show has continued to run in syndication around the world and in the United States on Cozi TV, UPtv, and Hallmark Drama.

In fact, Hallmark Drama says “Little House on the Prairie” is its highest-rated regular program outside of movies. It’s obvious that the desire for a new show is there with so many people watching.

‘Little House On The Prairie’ Star Reflects On Landon’s Role

Anderson looked upon Landon more like a brother figure than a father one. It didn’t always work out smoothly in the long run.

While Landon portrays Charles Ingalls, Anderson plays older daughter Mary in the original series. Anderson found working with him to be a solid working relationship.

Things, though, started breaking down after the show ended. Landon found himself in an affair with the show’s makeup artist, which led to him divorcing his first wife.

Anderson admits that knowing about the affair let her down. The two drifted apart and hardly spoke when the series wrapped production.

Landon found out that he had cancer in the early 1990s and went public with his diagnosis. He put on a brave face, appearing on talk shows like “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” and saying he was going to beat it.

Sadly, Landon didn’t and died of cancer in 1991.
