Filming a television show or film can have some scary moments. Actress Alison Arngrim experienced one of those scary moments while filming an episode of “Little House on the Prairie” during the 1970s.
Ohe scene that reportedly scared Arngrim the most involved a wheelchair and a hill, according to History101. The scene was part of the episode “Bunny” which was the second episode of the third season of “Little House on the Prairie,” according to IMDb.com.
In the episode, Nellie Oleson, who was played by Alison Arngrim, was injured after falling off a horse named Bunny. Because Bunny had once been Laura Ingalls’ horse, Laura (played by Melissa Gilbert) feels responsible for what happened.
So, Laura decides to take care of Nellie to ease the guilt she feels and to keep Nellie’s mother from killing Bunny. Nellie begins to take advantage of Laura’s guilt and attention. Eventually, Laura comes to realize that Nellie is faking just how injured she actually is.
Crew Member Spooked Alison Arngrim Before Filming Scene
Laura decides to teach Nellie a lesson by pushing her down a hill in the wheelchair she had been using after she fell from the horse. While filming that scene, Alison Arngrim actually felt scared. What didn’t help matters was that a member of the crew told her the brakes on the wheelchair didn’t work. The crew member told the young actress that the brakes were cut. This scared her enough that her screams of terror weren’t her acting – she was truly scared.
Alison Arngrim is also wearing a cast on her arm in the scene. This wasn’t a part of “Little House on the Prairie” costume, according to the article. The actress had a broken hand at the time. She was injured while riding her skateboard. So, it makes sense for her to be more than a little worried while racing down the hill in the wheelchair.

Arngrim Shares Details about Filming ‘Little House on the Prairie’
During 2018, Alison Arngrim was promoting “Confessions of a Prairie B****,” her book about her time on the show. While doing so, she stopped by NBC for an interview with host Megyn Kelly.
One of the details she revealed at the time was that she thought Nellie Oleson wasn’t the best person. “I turned to my father and said, ‘This is not a normal part. This girl is, well, she’s the ‘b’ word.’ He said, ‘Read it just like that, don’t touch a thing.’ I was hired on the spot, which says something about me. I’m not sure what,” Arngrim said at the time.
