The exchange happened during a skit at a health spa in Los Angeles. Stewart got her start in acting in 1961 before staring in “Little House on the Prairie” as Eva Beadle. But during her personal life, Stewart struggled with both alcohol and drug addiction. After leaving the hit show, her battle with her vices got worse.
Realizing she needed help, Stewart didn’t want to go to rehab. So, she checked herself into a local health spa instead.
“I went to a health spa in the South Bay to try to pull things together,” she said. “The place offered transformation through meditation and a vegetarian diet — and of course drugs and alcohol were not on the menu.”
While going to various health spas to try to get her mind away from her addiction, she randomly ran into Parton. The singer was also trying to get some much-needed rest and relaxation. Both Stewart and Parton took part in a sketch that the health spa put on. For the sketch, Stewart asked if she could borrow one of Parton’s wigs.
“The staff asked us all to do a skit,” Stewart said. “So I asked Dolly Parton, the country singer, who was also staying there at the time if I could borrow her wig. She was more than happy to offer one up — a large blonde thing — and I did a skit in which I played Holly Spartan.“
Dolly Parton Opens Up About Wearing Wigs
In the past, Parton has been open about wearing wigs during her professional life. To get a certain look, Parton tried to bleach her hair. But she couldn’t get the bleach blonde-hair that she wanted. So instead, she resulted to wearing wigs instead.
“I used to try to keep my own hair teased as big as I like it, and having the bleach and all of that, it just broke off,” Parton told Hallmark’s Home & Family. “I thought, ‘Why am I going through all that? Why don’t I just wear wigs? That way, I never have a bad hair day! I have a big hair day, but not a bad hair day.”
But Parton doesn’t always wear wigs either. In her daily life, she’ll go out with just her natural hair as well, but she does try to spruce it up a bit.
“I don’t always wear [wigs] in my daily life, but I always still poof up my hair. I still like to have that flashy hair,” Parton said.
