Major TV Networks Starting To Air Iconic Christmas Movies at the Same Time on Friday

This time of year creates major divisions between Outsiders nationally. Some Outsiders prepare way ahead of the Christmas season, often decorating for the festive holiday before Thanksgiving. At the same time, others are set on dominating those mashed potatoes before hauling out the lights. As such, we’ve seen a lot of strange discrepancies between holidays, both in retail and on television networks. Now, it appears many of television’s major networks have come to the same compromise. ABC, NBC, and CBS all plan to air iconic holiday movies on Friday night, following Thanksgiving.

According to PopCulture, all three of the networks plan to premiere iconic holiday specials at the same time Friday night, better known as Black Friday.

Beginning at 8 p.m. ET, CBS will be airing “Frosty the Snowman.” Meanwhile, ABC airs “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” and NBC presents “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

All three iconic films serve as a staple in many American homes across the nation. As such, those intent on getting the most out of the holiday season should plan to tune into the major networks Friday night. Though, obviously, they’ll have quite the decision to make, with three specials airing simultaneously.

Further, the outlet highlights the major networks’ intent to grab hold of audiences through nostalgic and heartwarming films. From there, they plan to roll out newer, more modern specials.

For those hoping to catch all three holiday specials, you may need to turn to one of several streaming services. Though we’re sure the iconic movies will air again and again on networks throughout the season. Regardless, Outsiders can catch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on Peacock with a subscription. The outlet stated for the other two specials, viewers will need to rent or purchase them on various digital stores.

‘Charlie Brown’ Movies Will Not be Free to Stream This Year

Alongside major networks’ decision to air three iconic movies simultaneously Friday, those looking to practice other holiday traditions will see more obstacles in planning.

Ahead of Thanksgiving and Christmas, many Outsiders across the country look forward to streaming the iconic “Charlie Brown” holiday specials. Last year saw Apple TV+ purchase the iconic “Peanuts” franchise. As such, the platform is forcing audiences to purchase access to the hit films.

Last year saw the streaming platform enabling patrons to catch the Charlie Brown movies for free. However, this year, the platform has made a frustrating change. The decision has forced viewers to succumb to a seven-day free trial on Apple TV+ or pay $4.99 to catch the hit movies.

However, in a “generous” move, the platform allowed PBS to air both the Thanksgiving Charlie Brown movie and the Christmas Charlie Brown movie one time this year. Unfortunately, for those looking for the cable TV airing of the Thanksgiving special, your luck’s run out, as it aired November 21st.

Although, there’s still time to prepare to catch the Christmas Charlie Brown movie on PBS. The network plans to air the iconic film on December 19th at 7:30 p.m. ET. Catch it while you have the opportunity.
