Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 Shares ‘Best Possible News’ about Cancer Treatment

Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 just shared more news regarding his battle with cancer, and it’s good news. The musician has shared multiple updates with his fans about his condition. He’s recently undergone intense chemo-therapy treatment, and it looks like it’s working.

“Scans indicate that the chemo is working! I still have two months of treatment ahead, but it’s the best possible news,” Mark Hoppus shared in a statement on Twitter. “I’m so grateful and confused and also sick from last week’s chemo. But the poison the doctors pump into me and the kind thoughts and wishes of people around me are destroying this cancer. Just gonna keep fighting…”

Hoppus has previously indicated just how nervous he’s been about the upcoming tests this week, saying that they are going to determine whether or not he lives or dies.

Mark Hoppus Recently Opened Up About His Struggle with Chemotherapy

Hoppus has been very open with fans about what his struggle with cancer is really like.

While Mark Hoppus has tried to stay positive, he also isn’t sugarcoating what he’s going through. In his initial announcement that he had the disease, he said “It sucks, and I’m scared.”

His stage 4-A B-cell lymphoma is tough to beat and requires extensive treatment. In a twitch stream recorded and uploaded to youtube, Hoppus detailed the treatment.

“Let me tell you something that is real, and it absolutely sucks. A side effect of the chemotherapy is you get something called ‘chemo brain.’ And for me, I forget things that I should have just on call. Like people’s names, song titles, like anything. I just forget stuff. People will be talking to me, and five minutes later I’ll ask them a question, and they’ll be like, ‘I just told you that five minutes ago.’ So, kind of sucks,” he said.

But Mark Hoppus tried to remain positive, feeling confident that he can “beat this thing.”

Everyone from former bandmates to family has released statements of love and support for hoppus. This includes Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker.

“Mark is my brother and I love and support him,” Barker said in a statement. “I will be with him every step of the way on stage and off and can’t wait for us to play together again soon.”

Tom DeLonge took to Twitter to describe Hoppus as a “superhuman” who he knows is tackling this “difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart.”

Hoppus rose to fame with Blink-182. He and his bandmates are responsible for hits such as Adam’s Song, What’s My Age Again?, and All the Small Things. The band split in 2005 but reunited in 2009. They had a major influence on the music industry with their daring lyrics and innovative sound.

Now, Hoppus is fighting for his life, and his loved ones and fans alike are by his side, supporting him in whatever way they can.
