Boston native Mark Wahlberg is back at it again, hyping up his hometown football hero New England Patriots. Bill Belichick’s team is back in post-season form after a down season last year, and the diehard Pats fan can hardly contain himself.

The movie star and all-around Boston sports fanatic posted a video shouting out his team on Instagram yesterday.

“How did the Patriots end up in first place?! I told you!” Mark Wahlberg exclaimed in the video.

Let’s just say the Uncharted star has plenty of reason to be this excited. And by the same token, NFL fans who grew tired of Belichik and Brady’s complete dominance over the past 20 years should be trembling in their boots. Of course, Brady’s living it up down in Tampa Bay these days. But it looks like one bad season is all the Pats haters will get from Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick.

We’re going to assume at least a few of you Outsiders are here for Mark Wahlberg and aren’t up to speed on the current NFL season. So we’ll provide a bit of reference. The Patriots are coming off a 25-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, and holding a professional football team to a goose egg is incredibly difficult.

If that wasn’t enough, the Pats are currently on a five-game winning streak. Granted, at least three of those opponents weren’t huge challenges, at least by this season’s standards. But get this—in their last three games, Belichick’s New England Patriots have outscored their opponents 94-13. You don’t need to be a football nerd to understand the pure dominance in those numbers.

So go on, Mark Wahlberg. Let the haters know. The Pats are back.

Boston Boy Mark Wahlberg Spoke On Jack Nicholson Refusing to Wear Red Sox Hat for ‘The Departed’

If you spot Jack Nicholson at a sporting event, chances are it’s courtside at a Lakers game or behind the plate watching the New York Yankees.

In 2006, Mark Wahlberg and Nicholson starred together in Martin Scorsese’s The Departed. And well, let’s just say the Boston setting was a more natural fit for Mark than for Jack. Nicholson, who played a Boston-based Irish mob boss, refused to wear a Red Sox hat. He’s too proud a Yankees fan.

“First of all, they wanted me to wear a Red Sox hat. But I said, all things being equal, I don’t want to. My Yanks, they came before the Lakers, of course. But Kristen [Dalton], my inamorata in the picture, she wore a Red Sox cap both to subtly indicate domestic conflict and to politically mollify the fans in Boston,” Nicholson told New York Magazine.

How did Mark Wahlberg take it? Well, he’s a wise man. Maybe he was a little offended by Nicholson’s slight to his beloved Sox, but he wasn’t about to tell a film icon what to do.

“Jack can do whatever Jack wants. He’s Jack, baby,” Wahlberg told Yahoo Entertainment.
