To celebrate turning the big 5-0, famous actor Mark Wahlberg posted a throwback picture of his late mother, Alma Wahlberg.
This year has been without a doubt a year of emotional firsts for the Hollywood star. In April, Mark Wahlberg and his siblings had to say goodbye to their beloved mother, Alma. She passed away at 78 years old after a long battle with dementia.
In May, the Wahlberg family had to go through their first Mother’s Day without their mom. On Saturday, June 5, Mark Wahlberg is experiencing his first birthday without his mom. And it isn’t just any other birthday for The Other Guys star. Wahlberg is hitting a big milestone in his life as he turns 50 years old.
However, it wasn’t all celebration. Mark Wahlberg thought it was only right to post a tribute to his dear mother on social media. In doing so, he let his emotions show once again with a throwback picture of him with his mom on her 50th birthday.
“Miss you,” Wahlberg wrote alongside his most recent photo.
Mark Wahlberg and Brothers Mourn the Loss of Their Parents
The last few months have not been so kind to the Wahlberg family. Not only did Alma Wahlberg pass away in April, but the family also mourned the loss of their father, Donald Wahlberg, on his birthday. As a result, Donnie Wahlberg, the eighth of 12 children, penned a moving message in honor of his late father on social media.
“Happy Heavenly Birthday Dad! Smiled so much watching this video,” Donnie Wahlberg wrote in his moving post. “I know I tend to write long posts but this video says it all. Such a perfect way to acknowledge the man he was, his no-quit attitude, and how it inspired me. Thank you @jaelynn.x for putting this together and posting it. So kind. Ps — I blushed in the video and I’m blushing now.”
Donnie did much of the same for his mother Alma on Mother’s Day.
“I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by, and set on my life’s path by such an amazing woman,” the Wahlberg brother wrote in a previous post. “My mom’s Alma’s joy for life, love, and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubetly shaped me into the man that I am.”
“It’s time to rest peacefully, mom,” he continued. “I love you, miss you, thank you, and will celebrate you today and always. Forever — your Baby Donnie.”
