Mark Wahlberg’s Wife Speaks Out on His Mother Alma’s Death

by Emily Morgan

After news broke that Mark Wahlberg’s mother, Alma Wahlberg, passed away, the tributes have come pouring in. Alma was 78 and passed away after battling dementia. In response, Mark’s wife, Rhea Durham, posted a heartfelt tribute to her late mother-in-law. Before the Instagram post, Durham faced backlash from fans for not honoring her sooner. She recently published a post that did not relate to Alma’s passing.

She received criticism after she posted about her son’s football team. Unfortunately, she published the post the same day that the news of Alma’s passing broke. Days later, Durham finally released a tribute to her. On Tuesday, the actor’s wife posted several photos of Alma, herself, Mark, their kids with a sweet caption: “Her spirit [prayer hands emoji] We love you now and always.”

Tribute Posts Pour In for Mark Wahlberg’s Late Mother

Yet, Durham’s post is just one of many tributes Alma received from her family. Mark Wahlberg also posted a tribute post to his mother on Instagram on the day that news of her passing broke. The 49-year-old Boston native posted a photo of his mother accompanying it with a simple caption: “My angel. Rest in peace.”

The veteran actor, the youngest of Alma’s children, made another online tribute the next day. In the post, his followers see another photo of his late mother, in which she sat alongside him with her hand on his knee. Also in the picture were his wife and their four teenage children. He included another caption, simply writing that she would be dearly missed.

Alma’s other son, Donnie, also posted a heartbreaking tribute to their mother. He included a video of intimate family moments throughout the years. The footage began with Donnie and Alma dancing together at his wedding.

“I’ve often said, if you like anything about me, I got it from Alma. I say that, because it’s true,” the “Blue Bloods” actor wrote. “She was, without a doubt, the most loving human being I’ve ever known. I never heard her say, or do, anything disrespectful to anyone. She was, as anybody who ever came across her knows, true blue.”

Donnie’s wife, Jenny McCarthy, also paid tribute to her late mother-in-law on social media. She shared a photo of herself hugging Alma. “To my sweet Alma,” she began in the caption. “I could not have asked for a better mother-in-law. Always kind, always made me feel loved and she will always be an inspiration to so many… Love you so much, Alma.”
