Get ready — Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves will be holding their virtual We’re Texas fundraiser concert tonight.

“Hey, everybody! Just so you know, we have this We’re Texas relief benefit Sunday night at 7 p.m. on March 21st,” McConaughey says in a video posted on Twitter by his wife.

The famous actor and his wife put together a benefit concert that will feature a ton of country music stars. You might recognize a few of the names such as George Strait, Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, and many more.

“A lot of people came together to help us get this done,” he continues. “But I want to introduce you to the person that inspired the whole thing from the beginning. The person that came to me and said, ‘the people in Texas are hurting and we have to do something.’ Everybody, meet my wife.”

Alves, evidently, was not a huge fan of being put on the spot.

“You know better not to put me on camera like that,” she laughs. Meanwhile, she took to her official Twitter page to post the video for all of her fans and followers.

“We make a good team @McConaughey 👊🏼 See you all tomorrow #WereTexas – even if you not from Texas you WILL be surprised! ADD to your reminders and calendar!!!”

Matthew McConaughey: ‘A lot of Texans Are Hurting Right Now’

The event being put together by Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves will help raise funds for Texans to recover from the recent winter storms.

“A lot of Texans are hurting right now,” McConaughey said in a statement. “After the disaster of the worst freeze here in over 70 years, so many are still without clean water, and unable to repair water damage that has made their homes unlivable. One of my favorite things about Texans is that we like to help ourselves. And while that spirit is still alive and well, a lot of Texans can’t help themselves right now unless we help them. The We’re Texas Virtual Event features an all-star lineup of Texas talent for a night to restore Texas. It’s time.”

All of the proceeds from the benefit concert will go directly through the actor’s Just Keep Livin’ Foundation. They will be distributed directly to on-the-ground non-profit organizations. Some of those include the Austin Disaster Relief Network, Meals on Wheels Central Texas, Salvation Army of Texas, and Save the Children.
