Matthew McConaughey put that acting hat aside on Saturday to watch his beloved Texas Longhorns football team win its opener.

McConaughey was one of many Texas fans at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium as Texas bounced Louisiana-Lafayette 38-18.

Afterward, the “Dazed and Confused” actor shared some wisdom on Twitter. Take a look at what Matthew McConaughey wrote.

Now put those words in action. See if you can hear his voice read this tweet. Oh, he has to make it sound like those Lincoln ads.

In case you don’t remember those commercials, or just want to relive those magical moments, check out the video below:

Matthew McConaughey Does Not Hide His Fan-Boy Side About Texas

Think Matthew McConaughey can pull it off? Probably so.

There’s no doubt he is one of the school’s biggest sports fans. McConaughey has been spotted at times standing or roaming along the Longhorns’ sidelines. The football team has a new head coach this season in Steve Sarkisian, who took over after Tom Herman was fired.

He takes his fandom seriously. In fact, Matthew McConaughey put together a video to light a fire underneath the Longhorns’ players before their season opener on Saturday.

But the “A Time to Kill” actor shares his wisdom as a professor at The University of Texas Moody College of Communication. McConaughey teaches a script-to-screen class there each semester.

He and his wife, Camila Alves, live in Austin with their three children. Don’t expect Matthew McConaughey to be leaving Austin anytime soon…except for a movie role.

Talking About Only Answering to ‘Matthew’ From His Mother

Matthew McConaughey will only “answer to Matthew” and never to someone shouting “Matt” in his direction.

What is the reasoning behind this name game? McConaughey explained why in an interview with “Daily Blast Live.”

“I got my first butt-whooping for answering to ‘Matt,'” he told host Al Jackson. McConaughey, though, had more to share about this story. He did in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. McConaughey talked about when he was in kindergarten.

A friend asked Matthew to go play on the monkey bars. Oh boy.

“My buddy says, ‘Hey Matt, you want to go play on the monkey bars?'” Matthew McConaughey said. “I ran out and said, ‘Yeah!'”

But Mom put her hand on his shoulder and pushed him to the ground. He said she asked him, “What are you doing?” Matthew McConaughey told her where he was going, but she wanted to know “who” was going there.

“She says, ‘Who is?’ I said, ‘I am,'” he said. “She said ‘What’s your name?’ I said ‘Matthew.'”

McConaughey said Mom was clear. “She says, ‘Don’t you ever answer to Matt again. I named you Matthew from the Bible,'” he said. “I was like, ‘Yes ma’am!'”

Outsiders know if Mom lays the law down, then it might be the gospel.
