Mark Harmon and his better half are set to make their on-screen debut together during Tuesday night’s episode of “NCIS.”
Pam Dawber, who’s never appeared on the CBS procedural, will play investigative journalist, Marcie Warren who reaches out to Gibbs (Harmon) after learning about the events that led to his suspension in the show’s latest episode.
Per the episode’s synopsis, she will “use her savvy wit and down-to-earth people skills to aid in her tireless pursuit of truth.” While this will be the viewer’s first time seeing Dawber acting alongside her husband, it makes us wonder about their backstory.
The two, now both 69-years-old, have been married since 1987. In the early ’80s, there were introduced to one another via mutual friends. They later said “I do” to each other during an intimate wedding ceremony.
Today, the couples share two adult sons: Sean, 32, and Ty, 28. Fans of “NCIS” may recognize Sean. Since 2008 he has had a recurring role playing a young version of his father’s character.
Pam Dawber Gears up to Act Alongside Husband on ‘NCIS’
Dawber’s four-episode stint on “NCIS” will mark the first time she and her husband will work together on screen. Although Harmon is a veteran actor in the industry, Dawber has also made quite a name for herself as an actress. Dawber is best known for her work on shows like “Mork & Mindy” and “My Sister Sam.”
An actor by trade, it makes fan wonder why Dawber is just now getting a role on her husband’s namesake. According to Dawber, she had “been asked to do “NCIS” before over the years” but always turned it down because “it just wasn’t the right character or the right time.”
Speaking about the role, she recalled, “With Marcie, it was so funny because when they were casting, Mark goes, ‘Who you’re really looking for is my wife.’ They said, ‘But she’s always turned us down!'”
Although she was apprehensive about signing on “because [she] hasn’t acted in so long.” However, she eventually agreed.
Hinting at what fans can expect from her cameo with her husband, she revealed: “There’s a lot of humor – character humor, not joking humor. We play against each other. That comes naturally. It’s fun. We’ve had a blast.”
However, she didn’t reveal any details on whether her character will act as a love interest for Gibbs. Harmon’s character is yet again single after Maria Bello’s character left the force.
