Meghan McCain Remembers Dad John in Heartbreaking Tribute on Third Anniversary of His Death

Years after United States Senator John McCain passed away, his daughter Meghan McCain continues to mourn her famous father.

On Wednesday, Aug. 25, which is the third anniversary of the former presidential candidate’s death in 2018, Meghan McCain shared an emotional tribute about her late father.

Taking to her personal Instagram account, she began her post with: “3 years. How has it been 3 years…?”

She then shared how her father’s passing changed her life, alongside a photo of him sitting on a bench and smiling.

“You left a void in this world by leaving it that will never be filled,” Meghan also shared. “And when you left, so much light went with you. I think about you every single day.”

The former co-host of “The View” then shared what she misses about her beloved father.

“I miss your laugh, your humor, your wisdom, your cooking… I miss everything. … love you forever, Dad. illegitimi non carborundum,” Meghan McCain also shared.

Meghan McCain Encourages Fellow Americans to Support the Nation’s Veterans

Prior to his death at the age of 81, U.S. Senator John McCain lived a life of service. He served in the United States Navy and was a Prisoner of War during the Vietnam War. During his captivity from 1967 through 1973, McCain was tortured and kept in solitary confinement. Following his release, he received the Legion of Merit, the Silver Star, and other awards.

McCain was elected to the United States House of Representatives to represent Arizona in 1982. He served the state in that position from 1983 until 1987. In 1987, he was elected to the United States Senate. He held that position until the time of his death in 2018. McCain was also the presidential candidate for the Republican party in 2008. He was defeated by President Barack Obama.

Unsurprisingly, Meghan McCain is a vocal supporter of the veterans of the United States. Like her father before her, she has a conservative point of view. She was known for her conservative stances while she was a host on “The View.” She recently exited the popular daytime show.

And, since the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, McCain has expressed her anger and frustration at the decision. She also encouraged her fellow Americans to reach out and offer support to the veterans in their lives.

“Our veterans deserve better, the innocent Afghan people and our allies and translators who have stood by us for the past 20 years deserve better. The shame, dishonor and embarrassment the Biden administration has brought to our country will take generations to undo,” she also shared on Instagram. “… but please reach out to your veteran friends and their families – everyone I know is struggling.”
