Duck Dynasty: Jase Robertson’s Daughter Mia To Undergo Major Surgery

by Halle Ames

Mia, the youngest daughter of Duck Dynasty’s Jase & Missy Robertson, will undergo a ‘major surgery’ to fix a condition she was born with.

Mia Robertson was born with a cleft lip and palate. At 17-years-old, Mia has undergone numerous surgeries throughout her life to fix her mouth. Throughout every surgery, the young girl is reported to remain positive.

Another Round of Doctors Appointments

On January 27, 2021, Missy Robertson posted on her social media about another round of medical trips the families went on for Mia’s cleft lip, including a stop at the Robertson’s favorite restaurant along the way.

“Another medical road trip in the books. Along with our 6-week orthodontic visits to Dallas, we also make regular visits to Mia’s surgeon. And we ALWAYS stop in for Chuy’s queso and creamy jalapeño afterwards! #CleftCutie.”

The Robertson family also started a foundation in their daughter’s honor, called The Mia Moo Fund.

On The Mia Moo Fund’s Instagram page, they explained the process of scheduling another “major surgery” and how refreshing it is to see familiar faces within the doctor’s office.

“Mia saw her surgeon Dr. David Genecov and his staff and scheduled a major surgery. Dr. David Genecov, nurses Kelly and Jeanette, have been caring for her most of her life. What a blessing to see these familiar faces and hear their sweet greetings and genuine interest in her activities and interests each time we have to make these visits. It has been a comfort to this mom, especially when I know that each visit means more changes, more discomfort, more risk for my child.”

In addition, the faith-based family thanks God for the teams involved in the surgery.

“However, I also take comfort in knowing God has led us to the perfect team for the best possible chance for my child’s success. This time is no different.”

Mia Robertson’s Groundbreaking Surgery

Missy Robertson, who runs Mia Moo’s Instagram account, describes the surgery, called the “distraction,” to worried fans. This will be Mia Robertson’s 13th surgery.

“Now for the difficult part: this surgery is called a distraction. Dr. Genecov will break both upper and lower jaws on each side in order for them to meet in the middle. Since Mia’s upper jaw stopped growing some years ago, this surgery is in hopes that her teeth and jaws will function normally in terms of chewing and speaking. She will also look very different once she is healed. Dr. David Genecov is leading the way in regards to new procedures that do not involve a halo. This is EVERYTHING to the cleft world! It means far less time in the ICU and far less trauma to these children (and their parents!). This is the 13th surgery/procedure in her short life, and we are confident and blessed to have found such a wonderful team of surgeons and staff to take care of her for the last 17 years! We pray every cleft child can be as blessed.”

From all your friends here at Outsider, we are keeping Mia and the rest of the Robertson family in our thoughts. You got this, Mia!
