New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has stirred up some controversy with his latest Instagram post. Furthermore, Newton has received multiple responses online from Miami Dolphins players after Sunday’s Week 1 game.

The Patriots defeated the Dolphins 21-11 in their home opener at Gillette Stadium. Afterward, Newton and a few Dolphins players appeared to get into a heated exchange on the field. The Patriots quarterback had to be separated from the Dolphin players, and was clearly annoyed by the confrontation.

It looked like Newton’s opponents were trying to rip the chain he was wearing off his neck. Indeed, the longtime former Carolina Panthers QB said that was the issue in his postgame press conference.

“They were reaching for my chain. And I think that kind of got up under my skin,” said Newton.

“I still got my chain. I got two of them, as you can see,” he made sure to confirm.

Dolphins Players Fire Back at Cam Newton

After the New England Patriots victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Newton bragged about the win on Instagram. Additionally, he made sure to let people know he still had his jewelry.

“Tried to snatch my CHAIN and the GAME,” Newton posted. “Too bad i got BOTH!!”

Two players on the Dolphins defense responded with some NSFW language to Newton’s Instagram post.

Defensive end Shaq Lawson reacted, “We don’t won’t that weak a** chain.”

“Man ain’t nobody want your fake a** chains s**t was weak anyway 😂,” wrote defensive tackle Raekwon Davis.

Obviously there was no love lost between the opposing players. The Patriots and Dolphins don’t play each other again until Dec. 20 in Miami. Sadly, fans will have to wait until the end of the year to watch the division rival rematch. Considering that tensions were already this high in Week 1, it’s probably worth circling the December game on your calendar now.
