Michael Nader, an actor who always played the sexy, rich, handsome characters on daytime and primetime soap operas, has died. He was 76.

Nader’s wife, Jodi, shared the heart-breaking news in a statement to MichaelFairmanTV.com. She said Michael Nader passed away Monday.

“With heavy heart, I’m sharing the news of the passing of my beloved, Michael. We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted. Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of Dynasty during Emma Samms virtual event to help raise funds for Long-Covid research. He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever.”

Michael Nader Romanced Strong Women on Soaps

Michael Nader endeared himself to fans of All My Children by portraying Dimitri Marick on two different stints on the show, from 1991-99 and in 2000-01. Nader also was part of the soap’s very brief, online revival. On the show, he married Erica Kane, twice. And he also had a romance with Alexandra Devane (Finola Hughes). His half brother on the show was Edmund Gray, who was played by John Callahan. Callahan died last year.

And if you loved Dynasty, the 1980s-era prime-time soap, you adored Nader as Dex Dexter. He played the love interest of Alexis Colby (Joan Collins). Alexis was one of the best characters in all of 1980s TV. And Nader played her third husband and one of Alexis’ great loves. He joined the show in 1983 and stuck with it until it ended in 1989. Coincidentally, he and Linda Evans, who played Krystal Carrington on Dynasty, worked together on a very early project — Beach Blanket Bingo in 1965.

So, basically, Nader played characters who were handsome and rich enough to woo TV’s most beautiful and powerful women. He spent much of his career on soaps. He played Kevin Thompson on As the World Turns from 1975 to 1978. And in 1983, he joined the cast of Bare Essence, NBC’s attempt at a prime-time soap.

TV Line said that Michael Nader died of an untreatable form of cancer. He spent his final hours at his home in Northern California with his wife and rescue dog, Storm.

In addition to All My Children and Dynasty, Michael Nader also had roles on TV shows Cold CaseLaw & Order: SVU, FlashMagnum, P.I. and Gidget.

Fans Paid Tribute to Nader on Social Media

Fans mourned his death on social media. One wrote of Michael Nader:

“The crush I had growing up on Michael Nader/Dimitri Merrick/Dex Dexter. He played two distinct parts, who managed to shine as the other half of two of the strongest female characters ever written. #RIPMichaelNader. Condolences to his family. #AllMyChildren #Dynasty

Another fan wrote: “What an incredible loss. Michael Nader was such a phenomenal actor. Erica and Dimitri was one of my Nana’s favorite #AMC pairings, and as such, was mine too. The work that Agnes Nixon and Lorraine Broderick did in crafting the essence of Dimitri was truly inspired. RIP, king”
