He’s been a professional football star, a morning show host, a news anchor, a sports anchor, and even a filmmaker, so why wouldn’t Michael Strahan try his hand at competitive rowing?
Recently, Michael Strahan and his NFL on FOX crew went on the road to Annapolis Maryland to spend some time with the Naval Academy’s world-class competitive rowing crew.
The television superstar even took some time to compete himself while visiting the iconic academy.
“Change of scenery for the @NFLONFOX crew this weekend,” Michael Strahan shared on his Instagram Saturday night.
“Shooting from the Naval Academy in Annapolis with this amazing group of naval cadets,” the athlete and television host continues in his November 6 post.
Strahan then invites his Insta followers to go through the series of photos showing him, his NFL On FOX cohosts, and the rowers in some hardcore competition.
“Swipe to see our competitiveness come out when we went rowing!” the star exclaims.
Michael Strahan’s Impressive Career
Michael Strahan is tireless as he takes on a variety of tasks day in and day out.
A loyal New Yorker, Strahan spent fifteen years playing defensive-end the New York Giants. The football great remained a Giant throughout his entire career on the field, never playing for another NFL team.
Michael Strahan set the National Football Conference record for sacks with a total of 22.5 back in 2001.
The famous football player was named captain of the 2007 Giants team. This team went on to win the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.
After exiting the league, Michael Strahan made an amazing second-act as he went on to become a beloved television personality.
In 2012 it was announced that Michael Strahan would be officially filling the open seat on the former Live! With Regis and Kelly starring Kelly Ripa and Regis Philbin. After this announcement, the show was renamed Live! With Kelly and Michael.
For four years, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan entertained the morning talk-show audiences.
However, the former footballer made his exit from the show in 2016 moving to ABC’s earlier news show Good Morning America full-time.
During the football season, Strahan serves as an NFL analyst on FOX.
A Surprising Honor
Michael Strahan’s Giant’s Jersey, number 92, will officially be retired later this month.
Strahan was surprised with this news during the filming of a Good Morning America episode.
While on the air, former Giants quarterback Eli Manning jumped out of a box, shooting blue and red confetti into the air. Manning was wearing Strahan’s number 92 jersey as were fellow New York Giants teammates Jessie Armstead and Justin Tuck.
Strahan later quipped that he knew something was up almost immediately when he saw the trio donning his number 92 jerseys.
“They would never wear my jersey unless there was a reason,” the Good Morning America host joked. “because they don’t love me that much.”
