Michelle Pfeiffer treated her Instagram followers to a trip back in time when she shared a clip of herself during her beauty pageant days from the 1970s. In the clip shared on Thursday, fans can see the 62-year-old actress as a fresh-faced teenager in various modeling competitions as she competed for titles throughout Southern California. In the collection of throwback clips, the Scarface leading lady added the playful caption: “Hey, we all gotta start somewhere.”

In her early years, before she became a household name, she competed in several beauty pageants and was even crowned “Miss Orange County” in 1978. Later she took sixth place in the Miss California contest the same year. Two of Pfeiffer’s younger sisters discussed pursuing modeling as a career, but both ultimately pursued other interests.

After winning her home county’s beauty competition, she made her acting debut in an episode of “Fantasy Island.” She later made her film debut in the 1980 teen comedy film The Hollywood Knights, starring alongside Tony Danza and Fran Drescher. Pfeiffer would go on to enjoy a decades-long film career, although she has occasionally ventured back into modeling and was the face of a 2005 campaign for Giorgio Armani.

During an interview with Elle, the Grease 2 actress spoke about how her time at home, due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, has made her more comfortable in her skin, free from makeup or other beauty procedures. “I feel like we all, it just sounds so corny, but I’m sensing that we’re all discovering that our natural beauty is enough in a way that I don’t think we understood before,” she said. Pfeiffer did confess that she would love to undergo a few spa procedures as a way to take the stress off of quarantine.

“At the same time, what I wouldn’t give for a facial. Or just a manicure and a pedicure. It’s like I could use a little TLC, I think,” the actress said. The star has been married to celebrated TV producer and writer David E. Kelley since 1993. They share two children, a 28-year-old daughter named Claudia and son 26-year-old son named John.
