Mick Jagger Discusses New Rolling Stones Music

In a September 2020 interview with GQ, Mick Jagger reveals that his legendary band Rolling Stones was getting ready to record some new music. “I hope we can get together and record this year,” he explains. “We had planned to do that around now.”

Mick admits that it has been quite difficult, but not impossible to get everyone together for recording. Just more difficult than normal. “We’ve got plenty of new songs to do,” Jagger states. “So it’s just a question of doing it and getting it finished.”

Mick Talks Working During the COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdowns

While also chatting with GQ, Mick discusses how the group stayed in touch during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. “We’re not talking every day, but I’ll be talking to everyone more or less every week. Some people are more communicative than others.”

Mick Jagger also says he doesn’t think Charlie [Watt’s] life changed during the lockdown. “He doesn’t really do much! He lives in the country and I think he’s just carried on living in the country.”

In regards to working during the pandemic’s lockdowns, Mick Jagger explains, “Yeah, you feel some pressure. Having said that, it could have been worse.” Jagger also says that he has been writing quite a lot of songs as well as playing the guitar and singing. “I’ve kept myself pretty busy on that front. So I haven’t felt that I’ve been lazy.”

Mick Jagger goes on to note that the same process was for the remastered“Goats Head Soup” album as well. “We had to do the extra tracks and finish them off,” he adds. “Because they weren’t finished and get them mixed properly.”

Speaking about the band’s single “Living in a Ghost Town,” Mick Jagger says the group had recorded the track before lockdown. “I didn’t have to start from scratch. There was quite a lot to finish on it. I rewrote a little bit of it -not much, just a bit – then did the vocals.”

The Rolling Stones’ U.S. tour is currently postponed as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.  However, the event’s current listed stops include Charlotte, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Tampa. There has yet to be any news about the tour coming back.
