Looks like we’ll be decking the halls with a new Mountain Dew flavor next year.
In addition to its current Merry Mash-Up flavor, Mountain Dew is allegedly preparing to debut Mountain Dew Snap’d, a gingerbread-flavored soda.
Redditor TigersFan1872 initially took to the social media platform to post alleged materials showcasing upcoming beverage. One is an advertisement that finds gingerbread men engaged in a snowball fight. The slogan “Nice to be Naughty” is emblazoned across the top left of the image. A nice, cold Mountain Dew Snap’d is chilling in a pile of snowballs.
TigersFan1872 also shared what appeared to be a sales deck for the drink. The new flavor of the popular caffeinated citrus soda is described as “Gingerbread LTO” alongside a mockup of a 20oz bottle, 12-pack of cans. The Redditor also shared a variety of other potential Mountain Dew releases, such as a new permanent watermelon flavor. It looked as though the leaked images came from a Zoom meeting or online planning session.
From these notes, it looks like the festive soda is planned for launch around December 2021. The plan is for an “execution with the holidays,” of course. That just means pop fans have a whole extra year to prepare.
This isn’t the first time PepsiCo has experimented with drinks featuring holiday-centric flavors. In fact, the company debuted Pepsi Holiday Spice in 2004, which combined the smooth taste of Pepsi with ginger and cinnamon flavoring. This new beverage seems quite similar. Pepsi Holiday Spice has been discontinued sinece 2006, however.
This could be a great new flavor, but we’ll have to wait until next year to find out. In the meantime, there are plenty of different flavors to keep you occupied. Mountain Dew is one versatile soda.
