Music City Grand Prix Officials Apologize to Fans for Uncompleted Grandstand Snafu

On Saturday, Music City Grand Prix workers were still scrambling to put one of the grandstands up. And it wasn’t clear they’d finish it before Sunday’s Big Machine event.

For the first two days of the Music City Grand Prix, Grandstand 6 has sat vacant. Workers were still setting it up. That left many fans who bought tickets for the section upset.

Music City Grand Prix officials released a statement about the grandstand Saturday, according to the Tennessean.

Music City Grand Prix Officials Apologize

In the statement, officials acknowledged that Grandstand 6 would not be ready in time for Saturday’s Music City Grand Prix activities. They blamed “continued construction and logistical delays” for the hold up.

“The Music City Grand Prix sincerely apologizes to our patrons who purchased tickets in that grandstand and empathize [with] their frustration and disappointment,” officials said in a statement. “The promoters of the Music City Grand Prix will be issuing a refund to the primary purchaser for all days lost in Grandstand 6 during the three-day weekend. [And they will] reallocate as many of those patrons to other available seats today and, if needed, Sunday at no cost.”

Event officials further said that Grandstand 6 tickets would grant the holders general admission access to all the grounds and activities. That included the evening concert.

There remained some hope as of Saturday that Grandstand 6 would be finished for Sunday’s inaugural Music City Grand Prix. In that case, officials said, they would notify ticket holders. And customers would then have access to their original seats.

Officials invited affected ticket holders to visit the guest services tent. It’s in Lot N near Grandstand 6. Ticket holders can also email the promoters at tickets@musiccitygp.com.

Workers Reportedly Finished Grandstand 6 Overnight

According to WSMV, Grandstand 6 was indeed set up by Sunday. Workers toiled overnight to get it done.

Before workers finished Grandstand 6, ticket holders had to watch practice and qualifying from Grandstand 7. They were reportedly given a $10 food voucher for their trouble.

Music City Grand Prix officials said promoters will provide a refund to Grandstand 6 ticket purchasers. It’s good for two of the three days of the event. The refund applies to the time during which they had to watch from different seats.
