The location of the 2021 ACM Awards has been released, and we have good news for you Music City residents.
The Academy of Country Music announced this morning that the 2021 ACM Awards would take place in Nashville once again. The show will most likely be carried out in a similar fashion as the show in 2020.
This Years Locations Compared to Past Ones
The ACMs are set to happen on Sunday, April 18, at 8 p.m., and CBS will broadcast the event. Performances will be scattered throughout Nashville at legendary venues. They include the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe.
In 2020, the pandemic postponed the show from April to September and it was moved to Nashville for the first time. Usually, the ACM Awards are held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas or Los Angeles.
The event usually took place along the West Coast to promote more talent in that area of the country. In fact, that is the reason the ACMs were established in the first place.
In 2015, the award show moved to Dallas, Texas, to celebrate the ACMs 50th anniversary.
The CEO of the ACM Awards, Damon Whiteside, said in a press release they are thankful to be in Nashville.
“We’re thrilled to return to Music City’s most iconic venues as we come together on April 18 to celebrate the best in country music. Back in our normal awards cycle,” said Whiteside. “A huge thank you to the city of Nashville, Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium, and Bluebird Cafe for welcoming us back to Nashville, where we can look out for the safety of our artists while shining a spotlight on this vibrant city after a tough 2020.”
ACM COVID Protocols and Details
It remains unknown if all the COVID-19 protocols will still exist. Last year a skeleton crew, strict masking, and social distancing were enforced. According to Taste of Country, the Opry House and Ryman Auditorium have been allowing a small audience to attend recent performances. However, the Bluebird Cafe has been completely closed to the public.
“The health and safety of the artists, fans, industry, staff, and partners involved in the ACM Awards is the number one priority,” the press release stated. “All guidelines set forth by national, state and local health officials will be closely followed and implemented during the production, along with additional safety measures to be instated by Dick Clark Productions and the Academy of Country Music.”
In the upcoming weeks, the ACMs will also be announcing more details regarding the show. They include who will be hosting and performing at the event. Also unknown at this time are awards nominees, and if or who will be allowed to attend.
