ACM Awards 2021: Maren Morris Wins Female Artist of the Year

by Jacklyn Krol

The ACM Awards 2021 Female Artist of the Year award has been won by Maren Morris, who adds it to a myriad of accolades.

She was already victorious earlier in the night, taking a win for “Song of the Year” for “The Bones,” her smash-hit single. It marks the second-straight year, however, that Morris is the winner of the “Female Artist of the Year” award.

With her double win, Morris was understandably emotional. But in wholesome fashion, Morris made sure to first thank her fellow nominees. She also made comments on the “weird” year the music industry has had. And, of course, expressed her gratitude to country fans for being patient and faithful.

Other Nominees

Ashley McBryde was also up for Song of the Year for ‘One Night Standards” and Album of the Year for Never Will. McBryde will be performing x.

This was Kelsea Ballerini’s only nomination this year. Ballerini also gave the debut performance of her collaboration with Kenny Chesney on “Half of My Hometown.
Carly Pearce was won Music Event of the Year for “I Hope You’re Happy Now” with Lee Brice. The duo were also nominated for Single of the Year. Pearce and Brice gave their first-ever televised performance of the song together.

She was also nominated for Video of the Year for “Better Than We Found It” but lost to Kane Brown’s “Worldwide Beautiful”. Morris and husband Ryan Hurd gave their debut performance of their duet, “Chasing After You” during the awards show.

Miranda Lambert is the most nominated female artist in ACM history. This year, she was nominated for Single of the Year Video of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Bluebird.” Female Artist of the Year is a special award for Lambert as she has been nominated in the category a total of fifteen times. She won a record-setting nine times so far.  Lambert opened the show with Elle King to perform their single “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home).”

Additionally, she performed “In His Arms” with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram.
