Adam Levine Jokingly Slams Blake Shelton, Says He ‘Downgraded’ the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Title

by Josh Lanier

Adam Levine continued his playful sparring with friend Blake Shelton when he said the country star had “downgraded” the “Sexiest Man Alive” title. Both Levine and Shelton have won the award.

The issue came up earlier this week when Levine took questions from fans on Instagram. Someone asked him what if felt like to win People Magazine‘s Sexiest Man Alive. Levine was given the title in 2013. Shelton won it in 2017.

“Totally silly but flattering,” Levine responded,” he responded.

Another fan followed-up with a shot at Shelton.

“Do u think Blake also being the sexiest man alive was a People’s downgrade?” Levine played along, posting the 100 percent emoji.

It’s the latest in a long line of public jabs between the two. Shortly after Shelton and fiancee Gwen Stefani announced their upcoming wedding, late-night host Seth Meyers asked the country crooner who he’d get to perform at the reception. Of course, Blake Shelton already had a joke ready.

“He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play at our wedding,” Shelton joked. “He owes me a lot for just putting up with him over the years. So, I want Adam to come to be our wedding band. Their music is so boring that it won’t distract from the festivities and reception.”

The jokes are an extension of their on-camera chemistry from their time as judges on The Voice. But don’t expect to see Levine returning to his large, red swivel chair anytime soon.

Adam Levine Shoots Down ‘The Voice’ Return

In the same Instagram Q&A, Levine was succinct when a fan asked if he’d ever consider a return to the hit NBC show.

“No thank you” he said.

But Levine wasn’t shooting down the show that helped make him a household name. He just isn’t looking back, he said later.

“The Voice went on to be a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
“Thank you, NBC for signing me up. I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you to every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with. That is [a] shared experience that is singularly ours. We have that for life. Thank you to everyone who supported this long strange and amazing left turn into a place I never thought I’d go.”
