They say a photo is worth a thousand words. On the other hand, you can sum up some photos with far fewer words. If necessary, we could nail down the photo that Alan Jackson posted earlier today with just one word: legends.

What makes it better is that it is such a sweet photo. No one is mugging for the camera. They are just three of the biggest names in country music enjoying a moment. The smiles plastered on the faces of Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Loretta Lynn are priceless. If it looks like they’re having a great time in the photo it’s because they are.

They were attending the 2017 Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Medallion Ceremony. That night, Alan Jackson, Jerry Reed, and Don Schlitz became members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Loretta Lynn, George Strait, and several others were on hand to celebrate the inductees of the class of 2017.

The caption of the photo, however, has nothing to do with the Hall of Fame. Today is Loretta Lynn’s eighty-ninth birthday. Alan Jackson just wanted to wish his fellow-Hall of Famer a happy birthday. He didn’t make a big long speech, though. True to form, he kept his birthday wishes little bitty. “Wishing Miss Loretta Lynn a very happy birthday.”

Alan Jackson Isn’t Alone in His Birthday Wishes

Alan Jackson isn’t the only country music legend on social media celebrating Loretta Lynn’s birthday. In fact, the icon herself made a post that included some recent photos of herself. She showed her fans that she is both looking and feeling fine as wine on her birthday. She also said that her favorite thing about her birthday is that it means another year making music for her fans.

Other country music stars are getting in on the virtual festivities as well. Artists like Darius Rucker and Tanya Tucker have taken to Twitter to send well wishes to the iconic singer/songwriter on her special day.

Loretta Lynn has more than just a birthday to celebrate. 2021 has been a big year for the Coal Miner’s Daughter. Earlier this year, she released her 50th studio album Still Woman Enough. That album debuted in the top 10. Then, earlier this month her ranch opened back up to visitors. That means that fans can once again come and walk through the museum and even pitch a tent and camp on her sprawling estate.
