It’s been six years since Alan Jackson released his last album, but get excited because another one is in the works!
In 2015, country legend Alan Jackson released his hit album Angels and Alcohol. It is the 16 studio album the 62-year-old artist has released. However, get ready because number 17 isn’t far away.
According to Taste of Country, Jackson dedicated a few of the songs to the women closest to him. Two of his tunes are dedicated to his daughters, while another is a tribute to his mother.
Jackson’s children include his three daughters, 23-year-old Dani Grace, 27-year-old Alexandra Jane, and 30-year-old Mattie Denise.
Alan Jackson’s Where Have You Gone
The album, titled, Where Have You Gone, was announced by Alan Jackson two days ago, on April 2. Where Have You Gone will be released on May 14, 2021.
The album is nothing to overlook, with the hefty track containing 21-songs. Two of the songs include “You’ll Always Be My Baby” and “I Do.”
Alan Jackson wrote the two beautiful hymns for his oldest daughters’ weddings.
“The first I wrote for Mattie’s wedding, the summer of 2017,” Jackson says in a press release. “But it was so hard to do, I told ’em, ‘I wrote this for all of you. I’m not writing another!’ The second just came out one day.”
Special Touch
Alan Jackson’s mother, Ruth, died in 2017, so the song “Where Her Heart Has Always Been” was made in her honor to be played at her funeral.
“Mrs. Ruth Musick “Mama Ruth” Jackson died at her home in Georgia on January 7, 2017, at the age of 86.”
The song also has a special touch to it. One of Alan Jackson’s sisters found an old recording of Ruth reading passages out of the Bible. However, the audio wasn’t discovered until after the song had been released. So, Jackson added it to the completed version of “Where Her Heart Has Always Been.”
Alan Jackson touches on what it meant to have his mother’s voice on the recording.
“That was sweet. Towards the last few years, she had a scratchy voice,” Jackson says. “But she was just such a sweet woman, a sweet, sweet lady, so we had to have that on here.”
The artist teased excited fans about the album’s release with the debut of three songs on Friday. The compilation of songs ranges from sad and mournful to whiskey-drinking ones, to love songs. Are you excited? Because we sure are!
