Dan + Shay took home the 2020 American Music Award for Favorite Country Duo/Group.

Dan + Shay and Their Big Win

This award was not televised during the 2020 AMAs on Sunday (November 22.) Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney performed “I Should Probably Go To Bed” during the show. The pair performed in the middle of the Microsoft Theater on a circular stage. Smyers was on the grand piano while a camera panned 360 degrees around Mooney singing.

Furthermore, this wasn’t their only win, they took home every award that they were nominated for. They also took home the all-genre award for Collaboration of the Year for “10,000 Hours” featuring Justin Bieber. Additionally, they won Favorite Country Song for “10,000 Hours.” During their acceptance speeches, they told the audience that they were shocked that they won. They revealed that they were just “honored” to be in an all-genre category and didn’t think they’d even win.

They tweeted their thanks to fans directly after the awards show ended. “Hi. took the night flight back to Nashville after @AMAs to be with our families,” they tweeted. “But just wanted to say we are so grateful for everything tonight. not sure if anyone is awake rn [right now], but just in case, we love y’all so much.”
