According to the New York Post, Days after forgoing her “American Idol” platinum ticket, Kenedi Anderson took TikTok to share a new single that may reveal more details about her departure from the competition. “Here is the chorus of a song I wrote not too long ago,” Anderson declared in the now-deleted clip. She was sitting by her piano as she began to sing. “I need to find, need to find something better than what I had, and with no strings attached. Don’t I deserve that? Something with no strings attached.”
As previously reported, Kenedi Anderson, who is 17-years-old and from Crozet, Virginia, officially issued a statement about leaving “American Idol” after competing in the Top 24. “For personal reasons, I’m unable to continue on ‘American Idol,’” the young singer wrote. “This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But I know it’s necessary.”
Kenedi Anderson then wrote she was grateful for “American Idol” as well as the show’s judges, producers, fellow contestants, and those who supported her during her journey. “Thank you for giving me an amazing opportunity to share my voice; chase my dreams; feel so much joy and happiness doing what I love; and make lifelong friends along the way.”
During the latest episode of “American Idol,” Ryan Seacrest did announce that Anderson is officially out of the running. “You might have noticed that there was no voting information during Kenedi’s performance just now. Since we taped these shows in Hawaii earlier, Kenedi has decided to withdraw from our show for personal reasons. We send her well wishes.”
‘American Idol’ Judge Katy Perry Previously Joked About Feeling Threatened by Kenedi Anderson
During the first auditions of this season’s “American Idol,” Katy Perry joked about feeling threatened by Kenedi Anderson and her musical talent. After Anderson performed “Applause” by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry declared, “I’m feeling threatened. They’re younger, they’re skinner, they’re prettier! They sing really good.”
The “American Idol” judge also told Anderson that she didn’t understand how the 17-year-old hadn’t been recruited by someone already. One of the contest’s other judges, Lionel Richie, then said that they were looking or the next big thing and that she was “the answer” to their prayers.
The final judge, Luke Bryant, stated, “I believe you might be the biggest star we’ve ever seen. No doubt. I believe Top 10.”
Perry jokingly announced into her phone, “Siri, make an appointment at the plastic surgeon. She was born to be a star.”
Bryant then added, “I truly believe that your musical journey for the rest of your life just started right here.”
