Are Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus Filming a Reality Show Together?

Let’s be real: Who wouldn’t watch a reality show starring country Queen Dolly Parton and her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus? Unfortunately, this is not the case, despite rumors flying around online. Let’s clarify, shall we?

Firstly, let me say drama-laden reality television is not something this author enjoys. Nor is it really a favorite of fellow Outsiders, I’d wager. It also feels a bit beneath Dolly Parton, doesn’t it? Then again, what isn’t? She is to be cherished and respected only.

Secondly, this makes this article a debunking of the headline – and not at all confirmation in any way. Which is a good thing (hopefully).

So what has websites claiming that the one and only Dolly Parton and her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, will be filming a Kardashians-style reality show (again, no thank you) together?

Recently, a tabloid by the name of New Idea ran the culprit story. Within, they claim that the Cyrus family is in talks with NBCUniversal to develop a “reality television series.”

Thankfully, however, GossipCop has done some fact-checking, and this is not the case at all.

Dolly Parton Would NEVER – Would Miley?

The tabloid, New Idea, claims that Miley, Brandi, Trace, and Noah, were to become the new Kardashians (it hurts more every time I type it). Parents Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish, alongside Cyrus’ godmother, Parton, were to make “cameo appearances.”

New Ideas’s misleading quote reads as follows: “I have had an incredible long-lasting relationship with NBC for years,” they quote of Miley Cyrus. “Many memorable moments in my career have been shared and supported by NBCU. This feels like a natural progression and I am looking forward to creating content that we love.”

As tabloids often do, New Idea took these words – that Cyrus did actually say – and spun them completely out of context to push their own narrative.

So what’s the truth behind this quote? As GossipCop points out, Variety reported back in May that Cyrus’ Hopetown Entertainment signed an “overall talent and development pact with NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.”

At the core of Hopetown’s (run by Miley and Tish) deal with NBCU is the development of scripted and unscripted programming for their network(s). Miley will also appear in NBCU specials. Nowhere in the reveal or in Cyrus’ words, however, does any mention of a Kardashians-style reality show with Dolly Parton come up. Thank the Country Gods.

In reality, Miley’s “Many memorable moments in my career have been shared and supported by NBCU” quote was in reference to Hopetown’s deal with the network. And that’s it. In addition to the rest of the quote above, Cyrus continued saying that: “We’re starting this journey together with a Pride special on Peacock to celebrate a month we both want to highlight with this concert event.”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is that. Hopefully, fellow Dolly Parton fans aren’t disappointed, though we’d venture to guess no one is surprised.
