In case you missed it, Blake Shelton got married to pop icon Gwen Stefani on July 3 after a year of waiting.
The two tied the knot in an intimate and small ceremony at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma. Very few people were invited and the entire event was kept private until it was over. The couple shared gorgeous photos of the ceremony on their social media platforms.
The guest list for the wedding was incredibly small. This likely had to do with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to keep guests limited.
The majority of those invited were close friends and family, which did not seem to include any of “The Voice” co-stars. Blake Shelton has been a coach on “The Voice” since its inception, which means he’s spent 10 years in that bright red turning chair.
“It wasn’t just Adam [Levine] that wasn’t invited. Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Shakira, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, and new host Ariana Grande were not invited either. This was a wedding for close friends and family. Not Hollywood celebrities.”
While Stefani and Shelton didn’t invite any fellow mentors or coaches, the two did choose one “The Voice” face to appear at the wedding. Carson Daly, the host of the singing competition, not only was in attendance but was also there to officiate the ceremony.
Stefani and Shelton actually met and started dating while they were both coaches on the show. It was shortly after both were going through rather public divorces. It’s yet another reason “The Voice” is so intertwined in this love story.
Adam Levine And Blake Shelton’s Friendship
As it turns out, most people were upset Adam Levine wasn’t present at the star-studded wedding. The two were hilarious and bickering buddies while on “The Voice.” Even after Levine’s departure, the two were still jokingly arguing and spreading the love on social media.
In an interview with SiriusXM from March, Levine was asked if he would play at the couple’s wedding.
“They can’t afford me. No, sure, they haven’t asked me yet. I would love… First of all, I was just texting literally with them. I love them so much. It’s so funny you mentioned that, because I just texted them 10 minutes ago to say, ‘I love you guys.’ Yeah, they’re the best, dude … I would love to. I’d be honored. They won’t ask me, though. They’ll probably get, like, Luke Bryan or something,” Levine said.
It seems like Adam Levine found out about the wedding after the fact, just like most people. He even joked before the two tied the knot that he would crash the wedding if he wasn’t invited. It seems like if he wasn’t given the date, then the possibility of crashing was out of the mix.
