Blake Shelton wants more deer hunting Christmas movies. And we can’t say we disagree.

Nothing says Christmas like some hunting gear and deer. At least, that’s the case for country music star, Black Shelton.

During an interview with the Bobby Bones Show, Shelton talked about how his collaboration with the Hallmark Channel began, and what he’d like to see in future movies.

“It’s so easy to get sucked into those Hallmark movies. I fall for it every year,” said Shelton. “I am proud to be a part of it. Christmas is official when they start showing these movies. Every night of the week, you feel like you can celebrate Christmas because of those movies. And they have the greatest happy endings that you hope they do,” Shelton continued.

But, Shelton said, there’s one thing missing from the movies.

“I try to put as much input as I can,” said Shelton. “But they don’t want a lot of deer hunting in their Hallmark Christmas movies. To me, you know, that’s Christmas. But they don’t like that.”

Blake Shelton’s Christmas Movie Is Based On A Story His Mother Wrote

Shelton produced his first Christmas movie for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in 2018. The film, Time for Me to Come Home For Christmas, follows five guests who are all mysteriously invited to the same inn. The lead character, played by Lacey Chabert, sets out to try and figure out how she and the rest of the guests are connected.

An interesting facts about the film is that it’s based on a story that his mother wrote, according to Shelton.

“The original movie was based on a book that my mom wrote, which was based on a song that me and my mom wrote for my Christmas album,” said Shelton. “So, that’s how this thing started.”

The song he is referring to is, “Time for Me to Come Home,” from Shelton’s 2013 holiday album, Cheers, It’s Christmas.

After the success of the first film, Shelton produced Time for You to Come Home for Christmas in 2019. The third film in the series, Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas, premiered this month on December 5 and will continue to replay for the remainder of the holiday season.
