On New Year’s Day morning, country star Blake Shelton shared a message along with his pop star fiancée, Gwen Stefani, in hopes of a more normal 2021.
Shelton posted a short clip of the couple celebrating New Year’s Eve together. Stefani is seen wearing a “Happy New Year” party crown, in addition to the pair both wearing camouflage jackets. The famous couple made sure to smile for the camera as they rang in the New Year together.
However, after a rough 2020 for many, Shelton woke up with a request of the New Year on his mind. After facing a global pandemic, raging wildfires, other natural disasters, and even murder hornets, Shelton is hoping for a calmer year. He posted on his official Twitter account praying that 2021 will be better for all than 2020.
“2021.. please… for the love of God be good to us! Happy New Year y’all!” Shelton tweeted on New Year’s Day.
Blake Shelton Releases New Song on New Year’s Eve
On NYE night, Blake Shelton surprised his fans by releasing a new single titled “Minimum Wage.” During NBC’s New Year’s Eve Special, the country singer virtually joined The Voice host Carson Daly and shared the new song.
Shelton revealed to Daly that he would premier a new music video for “Minimum Wage” that night. The song focuses on his love for Stefani. Additionally, he sings that he doesn’t need anything else but her. His future brother-in-law Todd directed the music video.
“Girl your love can make a man feel rich on minimum wage,” Shelton sings in the music video.
When Daly asked what Shelton’s favorite part of this year was, the country singer didn’t hesitate.
“I got engaged to Gwen Stefani,” he explained. “I don’t care what else happened besides that. That made it a great year for me.”
